Soooo.... being Zedless lasted a while.....

Luckily I have an understanding wife, but on 15th December (three days after moving house) I collected this rather lovely thing...

Most of you will recognise this as Tertius' Z4MC, which was for sale last year on the forum, and I believe the previous owner to Tertius was also on the forum a while back too.

The Spec is as follows (copied from the ad);

M O D I F I C A T I O N S

INTERIOR
- Full carbon fibre Tillett B5 buckets with Dinamica back, seat pad and headrest panels. (6kg each, saving around 25kg per seat) The seats are on Tillett sliders with normal fore and aft adjustment. Height is fixed but can be altered by re-positioning the seat in the side mounts or adding spacers as necessary. (very good looking seats and surprisingly comfortable for long distance)
- Six point Schroth harnesses in silver for driver and passenger. Original inertia reel belts are retained and used pretty much all the time without any problem. Passenger seat has an occupancy mat fitted – airbag lights activate and extinguish absolutely as normal.
- M steering wheel recovered by Royals in alcantara with top marker in silver leather and M colour stitching (Very good looking part as well)
- Turned alloy gear knob (original available).
- Inntravee and Alpine 420i iphone adaptor fitted.

SUSPENSIONS
- Intrax 1K2 adjustable suspension, coilovers at the front; barrel spring rears. Setup and geometry by Center Gravity. It has been first set up for track use, but is now back to a road-friendly set-up by Center Gravity again. Very sharp and precise. Stance is spot-on as well.
- Suspension currently on a soft setup, it's quite firm on the road but I find it totally acceptable for a daily use.
- Original suspension (around 30/35k still available)

BRAKES
- FRONT : AP RACING 6-pots caliper
Performance Friction grooved floating discs
Brake pads – Ferrodo DS2500 (Almost new - around 700 miles)
- REAR : AP RACING 4-pots rear monoblock calipers
OEM BMW cross drilled discs
Brake pads – Pagid RS4-2
- Both serviced and repainted in M blue when the car was 60k
- Brake Fluid Motul RBF 600.
- This is actually the same suspensions/brakes set-up used on some BMW 1-series race cars, so it is quite something !

CHASSIS
- Strongstrut 3 part front brace.
- Rear trailing arm bushes replaced with new OEM bushes and limiters

ENGINE
- Standard, fully rebuilt by BMW under warranty with brand new Block, crank rods and bearings, as well as a Vanos rebuild in Feb 2013 (at 59,112 miles), so essentially it has around 10K on.
- Further running in service completed at 60,113 miles.
- Vibra-Technic engine mounts (road spec)
- Current mileage 69,000. Next oil service due at 75,500 miles.
- RPI air scoop.
- Full stamp and service history. Loads of invoices for services/upgrades.

EXHAUST
- Supersprint manifold
- Supersprint sport cats
- Standard X-pipe and back boxes – very quiet, passes noise limits everywhere.

TRANSMISSION
- Standard 6 speed manual. No noise or grippy gear, everything smooth.

BODYWORK
- Black nostril grilles (original with chrome surround still available)
- Paintwork significantly restored including a full front end respray.
- Only bad point is a tiny dent on the right rear shoulder but not that visible

WHEELS / TYRES
Apex EC7 18x8.5 ET35 on the front and 18x10 ET25 of the rear.
Michelin Pilot Super Sports
Alloys come with BMW centre caps.

My wife has been incredibly understanding (in her words "You're SO predictable!", but after having the advert open on my web browser for the best part of 4 months, I couldn't resist any longer.

Plans for the car are.............firstly to leave it on a battery conditioner in the garage for the next 2-3 months whilst we sort out the house, decorate and so on (lol).

As time permits, I plan to get a few small niggles sorted out - locate and sort some clunks and clonks from the suspension and brakes, and then generally tidy it up in a few places - possibly respray the front and rear bumper and skirts which have a few stone chips and a bit of gravel rash...

Other than that, funds permitting, once it gets warmer and the sun comes out, it's TRACKDAYS TRACKDAYS TRACKDAYS :driving:

Can't bloody wait! It's going to be a long winter

I'm also hoping to get out to some of the more regular meets, Newlands Corner, Vanity etc. I've always wanted to come along and hoping now to have a bit more time to be able to :)

Congratulations Ed, what an awesome car!
Re the suspension and noises you might want to find out when the Intrax were last rebuilt, they generally need doing every couple of years which unfortunately means sending them back to holland, but well worth it.
P.s. Must grab that spoiler off you at some point!

Thanks SRHutch & Earthdweller :)
To be honest despite my Wife's wise words NOT to shop in the interim until the house was bought, I literally couldn't think of an alternative to an MC for the money that looks as good, drives as well, and is generally as special, so it was kinda inevitable that I'd be back haha!

Cheers Tom! Yeah considering the spec, I ummed and ahhed a while but figured I just had to take the plunge and get on with it - I'd spend half the cost of the car again on those mods if i'd started with a Stocker!

I'm not 100% sure the noises I'm getting are suspension - to me it sounds more like brake pads clonking in the calipers; I had it on my previous 6-pots when the anti-rattle clip was bent on one of them. Either way though I want to get it up in the air and get a good look over everything when it gets a bit warmer. I'm sincerely hoping considering the comparatively light use the Intrax will be good for this year and I can take them off and send them for rebuild over winter 2019.... We'll see though :)

Let me know when you're starting to plan a few trackdays too - I'd love to tag along to one :) I'm really hoping to get up to Anglesey too this year - a mate of mine with a 911 and I have been talking about it for ages and have decided 2019 will be the year!

And yes, I'm so sorry about that spoiler, it's currently adorning the top of my computer monitors at work (important for downforce obviously) I've got plenty of cardboard over Christmas, so will get it out to you in the post in Jan!

Least u didn’t buy it before the new house, though expect was fully agreed before... looks awesome

Deposit placed 2 weeks before the house

Thanks man - love yours, do you do any shows? Would love to see it in the metal!

Beautiful car. Do the seats sit a little lower than the stock seats...? I'm looking to change mine (to get a lower seating position) and can't quite decide which way to go.

Well done. Had my eye on that for a while, just because it's such a good example! Glad it's staying on the forum. :)

Hell of a comeback from the "saving for a house" spiel.

Cheers :) So the seats are definitely lower than stock yes. What I would say though is 1) Try the seat before you buy - and I mean like as wierd as it sounds, see if you can get along to a seat shop showroom, take a paper and sit in the seat for half an hour or so and make sure your arse isn't going to sleep

The second caveat with these is I'm about 5"10 ish, and for me these seats in the current position don't offer enough leg support, particularly under my knees. It feels a little like the squab is a bit short if that makes sense? I'm sure this will be cured by tilting the seat backward mucking about with the mounting notches, but that's a job for spring time at the minute - I don't have the time or need to get it perfect right now!

If you do lots of miles, I'd recommend getting something like a Recaro Pole Position, as it'll be no doubt a bit more comfy than these over longer journeys/daily living. That being said the ~2 1/2hour drive I did in them getting the car home I surprisingly had absolutely no complaints at all - they were pretty comfy!

 cheers, yeah in my head I'd had it all worked out that if I saved like mad right now and had a bit of luck with house move related expenses and decorating etc., I'd be looking to buy something like late-Jan/early-Feb time if I was lucky.... but literally I couldn't say no to that spec - it's such a beast :D the minute I got my final bill through from the solicitors for the conveyancing etc. I put the deposit down  Absolutely ridiculous no doubt, but f**k it you only live once 8)

Do you drive yours daily/all year? If you're ever down Guildford way, or fancy a morning hoon to Goodwood let me know!

Nice! I did wonder who picked it up as I’d been watching it On PH for a while

Cheers :) Yeah I'd been watching it since I think August or so. Fortunately for me it hung about - no doubt a combination of the fact MCs seem to move slowly, the fact that a modified one such as this was likely to appeal to a far smaller audience (definitely including me!), and I guess the time of year too, but yeah in the end I couldn't let the opportunity pass 8)

Yeah, although at the moment it's SORN because we've moved out of London back to the 'shire and are staying with relatives. We're building a house in 2020 so will no doubt be consulting the forum re. garage design!

Come spring I'll definitely be up for a drive/meetup. :driving:

Ooh exciting! Enjoy the house building; that'll be ace! Something my wife & I have always wanted to do. Next time haha!

Eugh take note; I wish my garage was half a car longer and half a car wider; it's pretty good as it is, but if I was using it regularly I'd deffos need more space to avoid the contortionist process of getting into the driver seat from the passenger side  I have many ideas for garages - mostly involving levelling the ground floor of the house, fitting 8 shutter doors, a tiny loo/bedroom in one corner, and having the rest as the garage....? You'd only need to convince the wife

Amazing looking //M
Thats some will power leaving it in the garage for 2-3 months :o :driving:
Cheers!
Haha, It's still taxed & insured.... I very much doubt it'll stay in there until March. First dry sunny day..... :driving:

I’m in Bracknell, not far away. Regularly do runs to Goodwood.
I’ve also got pole positions to go in mine

Same - that's my starting point!

Because the whole thing is bespoke it does allow you to consider some wacky ideas, e.g. a triangular "double" garage with a single width door (and utility/loo providing the complementary triangle) or a generous single garage with a truss-less roof into which you can stack one car on top of the other using a four post lift.

And... also consider for your ManCave...
- inspection pit with lights & electrics
- electrics for tools, beer fridge & ctek charger
- summer & winter wheel rack (Costco does fab heavy dury ones)
- sealed floor (Jonneboy on here does this & more)
