Ford TCM issues - any experience?

HI all, non z4 car question.

I have a 12 month old Focus that's had a battery drain issue. They've isolated it to a faulty Transmission Control Module, but the part is on back order and they can't tell me if it's days, weeks, or months... :o

Looking online there seemed to be a major issues in 21 and 22, linked to the chip shortage issues at the time, but I wonder if anyone on here has any more recent experience and can give me a sense of how long the wait might be?

Ford have given me a hire car to use till mine is fix, but it's an MS ZS and I honestly think I'd rather walk

Are you sure it's got a fault?
We have a 5 month old Focus ST and have been having issues with the battery since new. Having seen a lot online about this, it seems that Ford fit undersized batteries to their cars; ours has a 60 amp battery on a car that has electric everything, and the charging system only charges the battery to 80% (something about leaving space for regen which it hasn't got IIRC).

Ours is so bad that if you use the electric seats without the car running, it immediately says the battery is low (even after being driven for miles). Then it starts shutting down electrical systems to save power (the touch locks on the doors is first, then the matrix headlights, which is useful!).
I am planning on getting a battery under warranty but apparently this isn't easy (and they will fit the same undersized one anyway).

I honestly don’t know. It’s been to the dealer 6 times, has had 2 new batteries, and they’re now saying it’s a TCM fault causing the system to not shut down properly and drain the battery.

I’m not convinced they know what they’re doing TBH.

I’ll give them a call tomorrow and ask about the battery size.
