Forced Trade in of much loved Z4!

Sad day indeed.

I've recently started a new job that involves quite a bit of driving, 500+ miles per week. I'm setting up and installing networks for businesses across the country if anyone is interested and I could be anywhere from Aberdeen to Newcastle and all points in between on any given day.

Car allowance and mileage allowance taken into account the Z4 is barely breaking even at the moment. I don't want to kill this car with serious motorway driving and will be trading it in within the next 2 - 3 months.

Going to get an oil burner which will be a 123d M Sport Coupe.

204 bhp and 50+ mpg. More powerful that the 2003 2.5 I have at the moment with a lot better fuel economy.

Already been thinking about it over the past month from when I was offered the job. There is no other car that I've ever owned or driven that I've enjoyed so much from start to finish every time I've got behind the wheel.

Hopefully the 1 Series Coupe will be just as good as there hasn't been a bad review anywhere and the performance figures are very impressive for a 4 pot.

I'll miss the 6 cylinder and this very special car very much.

:(

I am sorry for your loss and I wish you best of luck! Dont forget to stop by from time to time and tell us how good/bad the new car is!

See, this wouldn't of happened if he would of gotten a 2003 3.0!!!

Take note all you 2.5 owners. Even AJ got the 3.0 when he got a new one. Or was it the si? Either way.

2.5 is fine with me, nothing to prove here.

Skelters, so sorry to hear it, but as Czech said, please keep coming by and updating on the 123d

Damn, if only i'd known the 2003 3.0 did 50mpg I'd have bought one :poke:

it seems like it's bittersweet. sorry about turning in your baby!

Have to say that when I first saw the pictures of the 1 series coupe and first saw it in the showroom I didn't like it.

But having seen a few on the road and after having another look at one in the showroom it has really grown on me, if it drives anything like my 1 Series 5 door did it will be a lot of fun 8) 8)

What element of installing networks do you do? The company I work for have a few offices further up north.

Sorry I forgot, sure you know all ready but the people in the forum below are a good helpfull bunch when it comes to the 1 series.

Here's the latest on the mythical 123d.

I've been to see 4 different dealers in Scotland so far and left my details that I'm on the lookout for a low mileage (under 10,000 miles) ex demo.

I should be getting a set of Hen's teeth along with the car as it seems Hen's teeth will be easier to get than these cars.

They are available within the Dealer Network but getting one is a different matter. Seems they are snapped up very quickly and it looks as if it'll stay that way until they're 1 year old at least.

There's also the problem that some dealers don't speak to others or are willing to send a car up from elsewhere in the country. I was a bit shocked at this as I would have thought they could get any car from one forecourt to another if the customer wanted it. One dealer in particular said they didn't get cars from any other BMW dealer!!!

I've made it clear what I want, Leather, Under Seat Heating, 18" Alloys and Cruise Control.

This is where problem number 2 arises. Under Seat Heating can be retro fitted but Cruise Control might not be!?!?!

Anyone confused yet?

Anyway, I need to wait until nearer the end of September before I get one however the Z is going.

Looks as if one of the dealers somewhere is going to be busy getting this sorted out for me although a waiting list for the ex demo's looks like a big possibility.

p.s. Was told I'd get £10,000 trade in on the 2.5.

having driven the 1er, i can tell you it's a nice little car to drive, reminds a bit of E46 in the size and cockpit is nice and snug. the 123d has a great motor as well. it's not z4, but better than the bigger e9x cars and with msport you will get the kit that will make it stand out and look much better. good choice in your situation.

Doesn't surprise me that they're not interested in another dealers car, why not just deal direct with the other dealer?

There are 22 currently on the BMW AUC website and 9 coming soon (various specs), so there's no shortage if you want one, are you listening to dealers too much?

:scratchhead:

Agreed, dealers talk utter crap at times... I would speak to at least 2 dealers and get them played off against each other, that way it will keep them on their toes... when they know you are talking to other dealers you may just find they all of a sudden WILL speak to other dealers about selling their stock.

Already been speaking to 4 different dealers about the car.

With the Petrol prices dropping slightly it might be another couple of months before I go for it as I really don't want to trade in the Z4.
