Had quite a few people asking me about the RAF application at the national meet and asking me to keep them updated so here we go.

Following the P2 I attended a few weeks ago I was given the date of today for my big filter interview, which I'm currently sat on the train returning from.

I'm pleased to say it was a success, I nailed the interview and got through with the interviewing officer saying it was a very strong interview and he has high hopes for me :)

Thanks for all your encouragement etc the other week at the national!

Many congrats, rare for such positive comments immediately following an interview.
All the best success.

Well done Ste, what are you applying for? I've come out after a 27 year flying career, overall, I would do most of it again, it was awesome!

Rockapes with a commission mate.

Well done Ste, a good and worthwhile career.

My dad was a Flight Lieutenant in the RAF during WW2, it's something I didn't pursue (although I considered it more than once), go for it!

Nicely done Ste; sounds as though you really nailed it! You'll have an amazing experience I'm sure

Well that's terrific news and brilliant comments from the interviewing officer.

All that preparation paid off - you certainly impressed us with your outline of what was needed at the next interview process. :o

Nice one and congratulations! :D

Well done Ste.

So you're going to shoot other officers!!

From wikipedia - "In the past the nickname "Rock Ape" has been attributed to their traditional role guarding areas of Gibraltar,[citation needed] but this is not so. The term came into use after an accident in the Western Aden Protectorate in November 1952. Two Regiment officers serving with the APL at Dhala decided to amuse themselves by going out to shoot some of the hamadryas baboons (locally referred to as "rock apes"). The officers drew rifles and split up to hunt the apes. In the semi-darkness one of the officers fired at a moving object in the distance. When he reached the target he discovered he had shot the other officer. After emergency treatment Flight Lieutenant Percy Henry Mason survived to return to service a few months later. When asked why he had fired at his friend by a board of inquiry the officer replied that his target had "looked just like a rock ape" in the half light. The remark soon reverberated around the RAF and it was not long before the term was in general use.[citation needed]"
