I had a Technics amp and surround speakers, but sold the amp when I needed optical inputs for audio as it didn't have them.
I still have the speakers though.
Good stuff.
Saw a Panny amp the other day...something like 7 HDMI inputs and 2 out. My current amp (Sony) has none (bought before the HDMI outbreak) and now want an upgrade. When that want turns into a man-maths NEED, then that will be a difficult time to find the finances!
Luckily £6k is no where possible, so a dilemma I won't have!
I still have the speakers though.

Technics used to have some high end stuff in the late 70's IIRC...
Main stream stuff stayed until 1990's then all got rembranded as Panasonic.Some of the early japanese stuff is very desirable at the moment,especially the turntables with parallel tracking arms.
There are some real nice Hifi around,im lucky enough to hear a lot of hi end stuff as my friend has an audio company. Some of the prices are obscene though and nothing seems to depreciate more than used hi end audio... :lol:

He's an electronics engineer, so drives all around the country/continent picking up amps to service. Sometimes he's paid in cash, sometimes in expensive whiskey, sometimes it's in spare/broken amps & stuff.
I just like the old Technics stuff as it was the first 'decent' gear I bought myself when I started working. Must have spent about 3 months wages on it all in the end - and that was with staff discount and the occasional item that got lost in the warehouse during stock-takes until it had reached 'clearance' price

Interestingly Tag Maclaren (yes the F1 guys) actually bought Audiolab and rebranded as Maclaren. The build was epic but some say the original Audiolab sounded best.
Then Audiolab was picked up by IAG who own everyone these days and they've gone back to their roots and look identical to the old gear. However I think they are electronically no relation.
