For Sale: Z4 Alpine White, Beige Hood *Rare*

Ah the joy of posting something for sale on a forum

Seems lws's ad has moved variously on from sale to the price, to being a nice colour, where in B'ham and now into an ACS wheel thread - nice work :)

Cracking 'of the moment' colour and has to be just what someone is after.

Hi guys,

Thanks for all the replies, both good and bad - I have taken into account.

Just one question though, I've had a few callers and people who are interested but I want to ask you guys about one in particular. It would seem one particularly keen buyer is from Cyprus and currently resides there. They are more than happy to pay the full asking price but I'm worried about getting my money transferred from an overseas bank. Has anyone had any dealings similar to this? And anyone know what I should look out for? My husband and I have heard about various scams etc. and know that ideally it would be best to sell to a buyer within the UK etc.

Also would I just fill in the VC5 form as I normally would for a UK buyer? I am a bit wary about this, but the buyer seems to want it straight away and tells me to phone her if anyone else wants it as it is the only white z4 currently available (except the new model).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks. :?

Little White Shark

I understand your hesitation with a foreign sale, to be honest I would contact my bank and ask them for the beast method of payment etc. It's not unheard of for cheques to be cancelled even after they have cleared etc.

Not sure if money can be clwed back via a Bank transfer but I would think that would have to be the safest way.

Regarding the V5 give the DVLA a ring they will give you the answer you require (unless somebody here responds before hand)

Good luck with whatever you do though.

Scam!

Well I wouldn't necessarily say it's a scam. Just because someone lives in another country and wants to buy a rare car doesn't automatically make them a cheater. My best man bought his 1 series White 135 coupe the week it came out only to find that 3 months later his work was taking him to Australia so he had to sell it and a Greek mister bought it for his wife, apparently it hadn't been released there yet or something like that, not quite sure of the details. But the transaction went smoothly and the car was sold, money transferred and car taken within a week. I can ask him to see what sort of bank transfer they did if you want?

LWS - perhaps you will need to ask full names and addresses of the couple buying and their bank details and you verify them by phoning up their bank? After all as long as you get your money and it's legit, the car is theirs and how they take it out of the country is their problem right?

sounds like a scam to me be careful. I almost had something similar when selling my girlfriends car. lived abroad wanted it straight away etc etc. the story is very similar. I think if you do all the checks as listed above, it might be ok. good luck with your sale !
