Having bought Pondrew’s E89 Z4 I need to sell my E85.

The car is well specced and includes power mirrors and rear parking sensors.
It comes with appropriate leather wallet and all the original handbooks etc.

I bought this car nearly two years ago. When it first came into my possession Bigwinn (Stuart) went over it with a fine tooth comb replacing anything which showed signs of wear plus all those items which are known to deteriorate over time in E85s. So lots of preventative maintenance. He has a comprehensive spreadsheet with everything listed and worked his way through this. I have a copy of the list and would be happy to email it to anyone interested in the car. I also have receipts for the parts used.

These are the sort of jobs Stuart did:
A full service including replacing all fluids
Relocated hood motor (which was new the week before I bought the car) into the boot)
CDV removal
Vanos seals and rattle rings
Valve cover gasket
2x drive belts
DISA check
New water pump, thermostat and expansion tank with new antifreeze
Various coolant pipes replaced
New engine mount
New front shocks, top mounts, drop links and ARB bushes
New front hubs
LED bulbs for internal lights and strip lights in the boot

He also carried out the following:
Repaired a fault in the dashboard instrument cluster related to the indicators which no-one else was able to repair
Diagnosed a fault in the GM5 module which I sent away to be repaired

The result is that the car is running perfectly and should require little or no expense in the foreseeable future.

In addition I have improved the car with much of the work carried out by Stuart.

It now has:
Black MSport heated manual seats
A Gaptech module
The dashboard and gear lever surround have been carbon dipped
A (rare) E85 specific central armrest, bought from another Forum member, which improves comfort on longer journeys
New 19 inch hyper silver CSL Atomic alloy wheels shod with Michelin Sport P4 s tyres. Wheels and tyres have only covered a few hundred miles
A new windscreen (the old one was quite badly chipped)
A Royals recovered steering wheel with stitching in MSport colours
Diamond leather mats ( you either love ‘em or hate ‘em). But I have found them to be very practical and easy to live with
Daytime LED running lights. Fog lamps have been converted. But could easily be returned to original if required
Machine Monkey stainless steel exhaust tips (originals available)
New wind deflector mesh
New internal door handles
New badges on bonnet and boot
ZHP gear knob
Stubby aerial, but for those afraid of the wrath of the purists on the Forum the whippy is also available

The paintwork is original and in good condition but in a car nearly twenty years old there are the usual stone chips.

The car has a good service history. The first three stamps in the service book are from BMW dealers and the the last three from independent garages. Prior to the last MOT it also had an oil change at the garage which tested it

I would be happy to answer questions from anyone interested in the car. I bought it as a keeper and but for Pondrew putting temptation in my way would have done so.

I also have a set of heated electric seats, the bases of which I had planned to use as donors to convert my manual heated MSport seats to fully electric heated seats

In addition I have a Coverzone Stormforce All Weather 4 layer cover which has had little use since the car has been garaged since I bought it.

I have priced the car to sell at £4400. If the asking price is realised I include both the electric seats and the Coverzone cover in the sale.

I will add photos to the post.

Thank you for reading my ad.

Lovely Z, one I’m sure you will miss. The rear lights are also very rare!

Thanks Paddy. I have really enjoyed owning it, I had no intention of selling until Pondrew’s car popped up. I just couldn’t resist the temptation. Hopefully it will go to a good home and give someone else some pleasure. 👍

As the forum is still causing me issues and I cant post from mobile I'm late to add my comments

As you can understand I know this car really well- Ian asked me to look it over on purchase and subsequently do most of the works completed. The additions he has made mean its a very very nice car and drives superbly.

Ian's forte is cleaning, polishing and detailing his cars, so this is reflected in the condition- its a credit to him

The final thing to add is that when you buy a car you buy the seller first- in this respect Ian is a trustworthy and level guy- he has never asked me to cut corners or scrimp on the car and you will see that if viewed.

Good luck with the sale- if I needed a 2.5 I would be investing as thats what I see this car as.

Stuart

Just like to add that the seller is a 100% genuine, trustworthy and generally nice chap. Makes a lot of difference when buying a car IMO.

GLWTS Ian!

Thanks, I'm up in North Yorkshire so a bit far to travel. Car looks great and well looked after.

Thanks Andy. Really enjoying the E89. The only thing missing is the rumble of the straight six. 👍

With the added advantage you know it won't be a wasted journey. You could easily tot up 3 hours travelling going to see cars closer to you which turn out to be a waste of time.

Looks like it has sold. Well done Ian!
Thanks Andy. There was no interest for about a week. Then three folks wanted to come and see it. A chap from Loughborough has bought it. He’s paid a deposit and collects tomorrow. In many ways I’ll be sad to see it go. It’s a really good car and I hope it gives the new owner as much pleasure as it has given me. Hopefully I’ll be able to persuade him to join the forum. 👍

I just missed Ian's car, but what a gentleman. Friendly and helpful, I learnt alot about Z4s from Ian. Thank you so much. Had various BMW's over the years, never a Z4 though. The time will come!

I'll be sorry to see that one go Ian

Well Stuart I’m not surprised you think that. You have spent at least as much time with the car as I have. I must admit that I will miss it too. It was a good sound car when I first bought it but it was your effort and expertise that made it into a much better one.
