Sorry to pee on your parade but that's not a Cherished or Dateless plate it's an Irish plate.

Cherished and Dateless can only have 3 numbers maximum. 4 numbers separate to letters is Irish.

Which is why you are selling it for less than £300. A dateless plate even the worst one commands a lot more than that.

To be fair, the OP is in Ireland - so to him it IS a dateless plate...
And to the rest of us it still is dateless, even if Irish.

I would suggest it’s dateless even if you’re not in Ireland. How could you tell the age of the car from that plate?

Well maybe don't then?

That plate is exactly as described; it is dateless and is not available in the rest of the UK without paying for it, so is a 'cherished' or 'private' plate. It has Z4 within it too, so makes it more of a cherished plate.

OP I think that is a very good asking price for what it is. GLWTS.

Was typing my response as you were posting.

My Theory? Sonny was one of triplets and he got the bottle.

No I disagree!
A right tit!

Really struggling to see the value in this plate. You can purchase one for just £29 (plus transfer fee). A quick search on eBay and I came across this dateless 'Z4' plate:

XG Z4 703

Although with the correct spacing it's XGZ 4703.

Apologies if I'm missing something, but the asking price is steep.

Probably because there’s more likely to be people with the initials JR than XG?
Just guessing 🤷‍♂️

You are correct Irish plates usually retail for around £50 unless they are extremely unique and spell something out perfectly

End of the day, it's what the seller is asking. If he doesn't get that then maybe he'll have to revise it.
I see no need for people to castigate him for this.
If you think it's too pricey don't buy it.
If someone pops up and offers the full price then I'm sure both parties will be happy.
Hopefully John Ross, who also owns a blue Impreza will see this. :D

In fact the plate is only £205 as the transfer fee is already paid.

Totally agree.
Many other forums do not allow comments on 'for sale' threads. I'm starting to see why. :|

I think admin needs to set up a system where any for sale posts, car, parts, miscellaneous, requires a a PM to [ref]SonnyA85[/ref], first for an expert opinion on valuation before any thread can be started.

We can start with sales, but eventually I think this is something that could be used forum wide.
