DEPOSIT RECEIVED 17TH JUNE SUBJECT TO VIEWING ON 29TH JUNE :D

Hi folks,

After a lot of deliberating I'm reluctantly selling my Z4MC. I'm looking for £18,500 as I believe the car is worth it. I'm sure you will let me know if you think it's over \ under priced! :poke:

Here are the details -

2007 Z4MC in Carbon Black with black leather
Original, standard car except for a stubby.
Owned by me since Oct 2011
24,600 miles
Full BMWSH including running in service, 9,700 miles to next service which is just an oil service, recent brake fluid change.
3 day paintwork correction detail at Off Your Marks last June, car has done about 1300 dry miles since. Paintwork is in fantastic condition and looks stunning in sunlight.
Engine bay is immaculate, likewise the leather seats and steering wheel are also in superb condition.
Car is always garaged and was also garaged by the previous 3.5 year owner.
Taxed to January 2014. MOT due in July but I can renew from 19th June, so it will have 13 months MOT from next week.

The car is very well specified, with most of the available optional extras fitted as follows -

Carbon Black paint
Electric folding mirrors
'Individual' piano black trim
Sun protection glass
Seat heating
Park distance control
Cruise control
Navigation professional
Connected drive assist
Bluetooth telematics
6 disc CD changer
Hifi speaker system
I-pod lead (dealer fit)
Cupholders (original blanking plates included)

The car is in fantastic condition, only being used on sunny days and living in a carpeted garage. Recent maintenance items are rear tyres (7mm) and a new battery 4k miles ago, and a brake fluid change last month. I recently had new original dealer number plated fitted. Front tyres are c5mm, all original Conti M3's. Brake discs are excellent. The car has not been driven hard, either by me or the previous mature owner.

Negatives - trying to be totally honest and up front to fellow forum-ites... :D

1 front alloy currently needs a minor kerb mark removing. This will be sorted professionally prior to sale.
There is a 2cm paintwork scratch within the drivers door jam where the seat belt was caught in the door. It isn't visible from inside or outside the car when the door is closed, only when the door is open. It would probably be easy to touch this in with a paint pen.
When I had the car detailed I had 3-4 very minor car park dings removed, but one of the dings had chipped the paint in the passenger door. I have had this professionally touched in as part of the paintwork detail and they have done a great job, but if you go over the car with the proverbial toothcomb you would see it.

Think that's it, but if I've missed anything important please let me know. I'm only selling the car because IKZ4 Junior will be arriving in August, and as it's our 3rd car and not used very much I can't justify keeping it. It's a genuinely regrettable sale, albeit in happy circumstances. I can't tell you how much I've enjoyed the S54 engine, truly one of the finest engines ever made in my opinion and the main reason I originally bought the car. I would love the car to go to someone that will look after it as much as it's been looked after so far.

Comments and offers invited!

Cheers, Ian

Looks great....hope you get near to what u want for it...given the condition/milege, etc., I think its not far off its correct price to advertise at...with the idea of getting between 17 and 17.5k,as people will always want to barter.

Mark at off your marks does good work/know a few ppl who have used him...good choice

GLWTS :D

If I ever went down the tin-top route this would be exactly what I was looking for, price can't be far out given that it's a cracker

Ian,

Car looks stunning, and I wish I could afford to have 2, so that I could have a carbon black coupé to go alongside my ruby black one (but I don't have any money or the space). Anyway, playing Devil's Advocate, I'm just going to ask the questions that we'd probably ask any seller...

  • Noticeable by its omission as I can't see any breakdown of the service history (i.e. running in service mileage, oil services, inspections, brake fluids, etc.), when you say FBMWSH, can we assume that it means servicing has been carried out using the owner manual's 2-year servicing guidelines rather than the OBC's 15k-ish mile countdown (i.e has it had more than 1 oil service in 24k miles/6 years)
  • Has the car ever been smoked in :?
  • Has the car ever been eaten/drunk in :P
  • Now that we know mini-IKZ4 is on the way, can we take this to mean the car has been out dogging with you :|

I think it's optimistically priced, with genuine CSL's maybe but as it stands I think you are £1-1.5k over a sale price. I sold mine a year ago with BMW warranty and CSL's for 2k less than that at a similar age then 2006. Mine was a keen price at the time to move it on quickly so probably £500 or so under in my opinion, good luck regardless. Maybe Steve220 or JamieZ will comment as they have recent history with similar spec car.

Dogging in the Zed?? It doesn't go out at night! I see you're local, if you fancy a quick meet up it would be great to see a Ruby Black coupe and a good photo opportunity!

Anyway, as per the above questions and also other PM questions, more info below.

Service \ maintenance history is as follows -

Date Miles Service
21/03/2007 - Pre-delivery inspection
19/04/2007 1,069 Running in oil change \ check
28/01/2009 11,711 Oil service. Brake fluid service
28/01/2011 19,858 Inspection 1 incl oil. Brake fluid
04/03/2011 19,881 Rear tyres.
11/03/2011 19,909 Replace engine mount
11/07/2011 n\a New battery
03/12/2011 n\a Cupholders
25/05/2012 n\a New original dealer number plates
13/06/2012 23,300 Paintwork correction detail
03/04/2013 24,447 Brake fluid change

The car is currently showing 9800 miles to an oil service. Following a conversation last night and the comments above I now understand that an oil service should be carried out every 2 years. It has been 2 years and 5 months since it's last oil change. It has had 2 oil changes so far plus the running in oil change, so 3 in total. I'm surprised and annoyed that it's now overdue, but it will be given a main dealer oil service next week in readiness for the new owner.

I wasn't aware that the oil services had a 2 year interval, it's not that clear from the service book (it's a small comment in the introduction) and tbh I'm surprised that the car (or dealer!) doesn't tell you about this in the same way that it does about the brake fluid. The car was in at the main dealer at the start of April for the brake fluid and they didn't tell me it needed an oil service. The car has done only 3-400 miles this year so although technically it's overdue an oil service, it has done very few miles this year and the oil itself is less than 5k miles old. I sincerely hope that this wouldn't put a potential purchaser off as I don't believe it to be a significant omission given the very low miles driven this year. Of course, if it does deter anyone then I wouldn't question that.

I don't eat or drink in the car and I don't smoke, neither did the previous 3.5 year owner. In my view the fact that the car is always garaged has had a real positive effect on the interior, it's never been exposed to sunlight and therefore the leather and interior look and smell very nice.

The car has had 3 previous owners which sounds high but here are the details. According to the previous owner the car was registered to BMW originally and then bought by the service manager at Sycamore Peterborough within the first month or so. The previous owner then bought the car in Feb 2008 when the car was about 10 months old. I bought the car in October 2011 so it's has 2 owners for the last 5.5 years.

Re: tyres and brakes, front tyres are 5.5mm and rears are 7mm and they are all OEM Conti M3's. The brake discs are very good with only the slightest suggestion of a lip. The pads are all quite thick, c10mm. It's hard to measure this but they are certainly index finger thick!

MOT is booked in for 22nd June, 1 month early so the car will have 13 months MOT.

Hope this helps, any more questions or comments please shout. The car is only for sale on here to give first dibs to forummers, I'll probably put on Pistonheads in about a week.

Cheers, Ian

I don't disagree that it's priced at the higher end of private sale money, I believe that the spec, miles, colour and condition justify it, but of course the market will decide what it's worth and I'm not going to fight that. If I get an offer near the asking price I'll be happy, and I'm sure the new owner will be too. The new owner could put 20k miles on the car and incur a very small depreciation cost, or keep it low miles and the value will probably hold very well.

Out of interest, what miles did you have on yours when you sold? I think apart from the crazy priced Hexagon cars that mine is the lowest mileage coupe currently for sale.

Cheers, Ian
