For anyone wanting a double-din conversion with air vents...

Found this company in the USA that are doing conversion kits. Not cheap mind you, but you do get a new dash panel etc.
Might be worth it for someone as I know a lot of people want to do this but the fan issue gets in the way.

I'm NOT affiliated with them I should add, just found them in a Z4 FB group this week.

Messaged him about it despite it being way too expensive for me and he said they are only doing it LHD for now unless there is enough RHD interest. Something to note :)

Yeah I saw this too. Is a really elegant solution but very heavy on price. And as said only LHD for now, goddammit. I’m sure I’d buy this drunk if it was available!!

Ah ok, LHD only is a pain! I seem to recall that some people on here have tried and always struggled to direct the vents - I'm sure someone clever can "take inspiration" and create something?

That's more than they charged for my carbon spoiler :P

Although for internal use I'd prefer a matt finish.

Looks like the LHD bit only really applies to the headlight switch component, so the centre console bit may still work on RHD cars.

Might be a minority here but I don’t particularly like the looks. While certainly neatly done, the styling of the vents just doesn’t match up to the side vents, nor does the black plastic used look quite right in finish. The latter can be fixed with a fairly simple paintjob though. I suppose it is an effective way of allowing for a double din, but somehow that looks slightly out of place to my eye. Perhaps because I’m used to the “on-dash” placement of the original nav… :?
