Football % Question

My Sat night is not complete without watching Match of the Day....couldn't make the Gunners game today as was working....but does anyone know who they work out the % possession stats?

Do the players boots have monitoring chips in them?

Just one of those question I don't know the answe to.....

Good question. I kinda like to think there's some poor chap on minimum wage locked in a small hut watching the match hunched over one of those chess-like timers clicking a button everytime possession changes. Please don't ruin the image!!!
 
id like to know how much territory is stolen per game from players not taking throw ins from where the ball went out.............
 
I'm fairly sure it's worked out through observation.

I have a friend who has worked as a sports journo for a number of papers, he openly admits making the possession stat up completely. I'll save him any embarrassment by not mentioning his or the papers names...

You can imagine back in the day, when a corner was given, the ball was placed in the middle of the corner point, and not on the most outer part of the line, where the ball sees more green than white!!

Not seen anyone do a handstand flip over throw in for a few years now, or did FIFA rule them illegal?
