food sell by date

well I've just made lasagne, and with the left overs I'm have spag bol, it may be over 4 years out of date but it taste gorgeous

No, it sounds like you have something you can attempt, the lasagne. And other qualities are also important to a woman. :)

There's a massive market these days for out of date food.

Use by date - is more serious, wouldn't go too far past stated date.

Best before - a guide. Sealed tins and jars can go for years

When I was in Air Training Corps, tins up to 10 years old were totally ok.
