Food for thought...

Sent shivers down my spine at the end, we are all animals no matter how much we try not to be :!:

Without supermarkets ?

I think so...

Im not against eating animals, but the conditions that the animals endure within the mass farming world is terrible..

I suspect that society has backed itself into a corner - we have huge volumes of people and supermarkets are always busy, we want fresh food an loads of choice and it seems like the supermarkets have the logistics sewn up in that area. There doesn't seem to be any out of season food now.

Could we eat as we do now without supermarkets? We might grumble about them but I think we might grumble more if we went back to the 50's style of shopping and experienced empty shelves.

The "Food marketing consultant" in the video us actually actress Kate Miles, as pointed out by one of the You Tube comments below the vid. Given that the film makers lied about who she is, I think the only truth is - we never know who's lying to us! The whole thing was obviously staged to give a biased point of view

Very true...

I think the idea of the video is to make you think....

I try my hardest never to frequent supermarkets.... IMHO the have ruined high streets over every town, city and village where they happen to land.

Luckily my nearest town still has a good high street... Great butchers, greengrocers and a couple of really good bakeries, thats where i choose to spend my money.

I've no doubt the experience is better but how does the price compare and does it take all day?

Nope....

They are within 2 minutes of each other... It would take you longer standing at the tills full of pyjama wearing spotty teenage mums with 3 kids and the local alkies with the bottles of cheap cider in their baskets..

Pricewise its not as cheap..Maybe 10% more expensive, but tastes 100% better.

Supermarkets are convenient, but the food is rubbish...

I'm jealous! All we have is a Coop and a Londis in the village.
Having said that we do have a top notch farm shop selling excellent meat - which I do use!

Yea... We have a couple fairly locally, but i find that they can take the piss a bit on pricing..

My local town is 3 miles away, there are no shops at all in my village but there is a Londis in the next one...

So.... If i make the effort to get shopping in,then i want to get what i want..

There is an Aldi and a Tesco, and M&S food hall..I like the Aldi, the M&S do have some nice bits in... I try not to go in Tesco at all..
