Folding Top Covers For Sale !

If something has appreciated in value, why shouldn't the owner get a fair current market rate for it? Forum or not.

If you don't want them... don't buy them. Simple.

Because it's against forum rules. But hey, let's just ignore them, there probably wasn't a decent reason for having them in the first place

But the forum rules say

Profiteering:

Items must not be sold for more than the original price paid by the seller including any post and packing charges.

There are exceptional circumstances where common sense needs to be applied to the profiteering rules. E.g.
- selling an item that was given free with another retail purchase or contract
- selling an item received through a work incentive or birthday/Xmas present
- adding P&P when forwarding a brand new shop bought bargain

Anyone know how to fit locks to these covers? Getting nervous about leaving the Zed with the covers in place.

It's not the same at all Ben, sorry. It's very rare that a car that is bought on here nets the seller a 'decent' profit, or any profit at all, and they certainly don't double their money

They were bought through a forum group buy, at a forum rate negotiated as a group, a clear benefit of being a member of the forum. IMO it's only fair they are offered at the same price or not at all - if anyone pays this price for these on here then fine, but they're being mugged off and (again, IMO) it's out of order. This isn't ebay, and judging by recent sales on there the OP will be able to make his quick buck (minus fees of course) over there.

*Waits to be called c*nt. Again*

 well said Alan.

Oh not the C. Bit

If your after a profit Mr B your better off ebaying them as been said.

More fool to the guys who didn't join in the group buy imo. A few guys thought it was too much to pay at the time. I'll keep mine for a rainy day. They're currently collecting dust in my garage

I wasn't here for the group buy, if the option was put to me as
"£70 now for these things you will prob never use as you have to manually use/remove them but you might be able to make £50-£70 on them sometime"
Not sure i'd have bothered tbh, if i'd use them then maybe i'd have bought in , but in the hope to make a small profit, i really couldn't be arsed lol.

I only bought them as they're something I always wanted but have never bothered using. I put them on once, took a photo then removed them

They do a great job of hiding the ugly holes though.

For who & when ?
You wouldn't leave the car parked in public with roof down for Joe public to "appreciate "the ugly holes being covered so that leaves the car in either your garage left with roof down or on the move :?
Neither occasion's can the owner see them

Not wanting to piss on the sellers chances but i struggle to conjure up a more worthless , useless extra .
If they were 50p apiece they would still be at best a nuisance & at worst a complete waste of time :x

eBay them.
Only fair to stick to the Forum rules.
I'm putting a query in the website feedback section to ask if the forum need to update their rules on "profiteering" - as pre-facelift cars are over 10 years old now, parts prices ( and indeed car prices) may go up as they become rare.

+1 Totally understand why the rule is there and of course, seller should abide by the rules.

These covers are only going to increase in value. So in five years, anyone who bought these covers as part of the group buy can only sell on here at cost price. If the price keeps increasing, £200 could easily be the going rate on eBay. So if some kind member wanted to do another member a favour and sell a set for £100, this would be against forum rules and frowned upon? Even though they are being sold cheaper than the going rate?

IMO this puts the honest buyer at a disadvantage as I'm sure there are members who will send a DM regardless.

I respect, but completely disagree with absolutely everything you've said there.

The roof on my car went down once and didn't go up again today. I had my covers on and stopped numerous times, leaving the roof down (for all to admire!). I can't see my tail lights, LED number plate lights, and can only just see the aero spoiler, so to say you'd only want these so just the driver can admire them is definitely not the case. The holes these cover are unsightly!

Furthermore, the difference to noise reduction is massive - making them worth every penny.

They are fantastic, but then I would say that!

I agree re the noise reduction - they really do make a big difference.

Probably worth >£250 8)

OMG ! Talk about opening a can of worms !!
I'm Sorry I said they were for sale !
apologies if I have upset anyone, never was my intention to "shaft" anyone on here by "profiteering" simply bought these and don't use them maybe I'll just put them in the charity shop !

The kind of people that buy these things are car enthusiasts. Maybe they go to a car meet and leave the roof down whilst the car is on show?

I agree, complete useless from a functional point of view, although I read somewhere that they reduce turbulence and wind noise in the cabin? Probably a load of old horse cock though

It's better things are atleast offered here at a price (at the very least minus all ebay fees) than not offered here at all.

X1

To be honest that's exactky what I thought but seems I may have pissed some people off on here

Sorry

You clearly aren't profiteering, you're simple selling something at the current market rate minus a substantial (generous) forum discount :headbang:
What you paid for them in an historic market is irrelevant as that situation no longer obtains. Had you stockpiled a few sets and were now driving up the price through your evil monopoly then I could understand people getting excited. That you're willing to sell for 20% less than the current going rate despite freely admitting that money is short at the moment is a testament to your character.
Had I a car that they would fit then I would buy them at the full eBay price just to stick two fingers up at the people who are so quick to criticise you (most I suspect) without having even met you :-x
