Also the VW group like to use only one front fog at a time these days on their new cars. Most people won't even know why

Are you sure these are not just the active cornering most VW group cars have... so turn the wheel and it puts the fog on to light the curb.. the wifes turned it on in her Merc too.. think that was by accident though!

That's what they are, I know that, but a lot won't. A bit like the extra brake lights on our BM's when you apply extra pressure.
some Peugeots now do the same, not sure how much use they are though.

One of my pet hates,if drivers can't see in normal conditions without using fog lights ,they need to go and get their eyes tested. They dazzle oncoming drivers, some models more so than others.I would like to see the police Inforce the law on this just like using phones and not wearing seat belts .

+1

So, like I supposed, much ado about nothing. I've never been dazzled by foglights, how can you be dazzled when they are aimed just few feet onto the ground in front of the car? Granted if it's a wet road at night it may cause an issue and I totally get the rear foglight scenario. Doesn't even come close to any problems caused by using a mobile phone or not wearing a seatbelt in my humble opinion. A bigger issue is people driving with no lights or side lights (AE's?).

How is it that if DRLs are used then it's within the law but if they are front foglights then it's against the law? In many cars, the lights are installed in the same location. When is a DRL a foglight and vice versa?

The question that needs to be asked is,why do drivers feel the need to use front fog lights when there's no fog?

If I'm honest, I object to the whole DRL thing on cars - should be kept to bikes only to make them stand out more

Whilst we're on the subject, doesn't anyone want my old facelift foglights for free, as a refurb project? Collection only I'm afraid.
I've got to have a clearout and I'll dump them if no one claims them by the end of the month. Usual condensation issue but in working order, never been drilled.
