Fogged up headlights

Hi everyone

Recently became the owner of a Z4, one thing that is bothering me is the fogged up headlights. There only seems to be water marks from where the lights have steamed up previously, can't see any actually water inside them.

Any ideas for a fix?

Hi
Had same problem after changing bulbs for brighter ones, drove me mad!!!!!
Answer is, take backs off headlights and dry out (use a piece of garden hose pipe taped to a hair drier to get right inside headlight when your sure they're dry, fit new OEM back covers with seals (not too dear) I used petroleum jelly on them before refitting, worked a treat :D

Forgot to mention take bulbs out first  Good opportunity to upgrade if your on halogen bulbs made a massive difference to mine :P
Rear covers accessed behind cover in front wheel arch, pull metal wire clip off (can be stiff) and you will see back of headlight

Hey Dexter, cheers for the reply.

That sounds simple enough, always best to get advice from someone who has done the work.

I could upgrade the lights, what sort of price did you pay for yours?

I'll give the hosepipe and hair dryer trick a go aswel!

Hi Welcome
As previously said Halogen upgrade can make a good improvement try this link

I could be wrong, but looking at your pics are you sure it's not the plastic itself of the headlight lenses that's gone a bit 'milky'? From the photos it doesn't look like water/condensation marks on the inside but instead like the exterior surface of the plastic (where I think there would have been an anti-uv coating) has degraded. There are a few people on here who have managed to 'polish' out the lenses, so that could be your answer.

Try using a DA polisher to remove the dull film from the headlight lens,I did this on my sons Subaru and the plastic lens came up like new.

I'm really not sure. Think the best way is too maybe polish the outside first and then try the inside if that fails. Thanks for the help

Thanks Max, I will give it a go

Hi everyone
I have the same "cloudy" issue with my offside light. To get to the back of the lens, do you have to take the wheel
and wing off?
