Fog Light - DRL

Hi Folks,

THought i would share a few ideas i had about my fog lights to get some feedback and help me decide what to do.

Idea 1.

Replace fog light bulb with this

http://dabhees.co.uk/h11-xenon-white-high-power-cree-led-50w-drl-fog-light-led-bulbs-256-p.asp

And then i was going to get one of the local car wrappers to wrap my fog lights with a frosted glass effect. Therefore it would look like a DRL like the osram ones a few people have done.

Idea 2.

For a similar price i could buy a H11 HID convervsion and again get the fog lights frosted.

Or Idea 3.

Do what others have done and buy the black fog light covers and mod them to fit the OSRAM DRL lights.

The reason i am not just going straight for idea 3 is with idea 1 and 2 can be easily returned to stock and is a bit easier to do with regards to modding and wiring.

Let me know what you think.

Paul

"wiring he paean"? :?
The Osram kit is supplied with a wiring module, several wires and a couple of diagrams (can you tell I dont do electrics?) The lights automatically come on on ignition and you have the option for off when sidelights turned on or 50% when sidelights are turned on to act as cosmetic lights suppose. Ive taken a few pics and will be on it again tomorrow so Ill upload when im done

Looking forward to seeing the result :)

Its a pain to cut the fog panels to fit the drl's as they are a real awkward shape, but I've done one side now and am pleased with the result.

Well alright then just a few...

Here is the Osram DRL (drivers side - not the one shown in next few pics. This has the bracket clipped to it which I didnt use)

This is the passenger side plastic panel that I bought from Sopers with the shape of the DRL cut out with a stanley

The DRL is fitted into the panel. Ive had it so that just the lens is protruding through the front, I've made it as tight a fit as possible

I then fixed it in with the same mastic I'm using to seal the lights up...like a sikoflex automotive sealant

Just connected to a battery to show they work

Ill take some pics tomorrow of the lamp fitted to the bumper

A few more pics of the (almost finished) DRL conversion

Showing how it fits into the plastic foglight replacement panel

Excuse the washing on the line...I'm sure David Bailey would have noticed that
This is with the DRL's attached to a very weak 9v battery in bright sunshine...

Looks a good job. Are you going to paint the black plastic to match your paint?
