Fly Bites

I’ve had a couple of nips from little flies while on the Euro trip but something with big teeth has bitten me on the lower leg and it’s got a whopper of a blister now - double the size shown in the pictures - bad enough to use a plaster to protect from the BMW first aid kit!

At a guess I would say a horse fly ?
We are in Chiavenna in Lombardy

Just be careful and keep an eye on them, there was a post on Facebook where a woman was bit on the leg and she had to go to hospital as it had turned septic, she said she had never felt so ill and thought she was going to die

As above keep an eye

I got bitten on the ankle by a horse fly at a car show Billing Showground left it a few days but when a red line started travelling up my leg I saw a doc Antibiotics sorted it but it did get a bit painful and numb.

I react badly to bites so my GP prescribes strong anti histamines- let’s hope they work!
I’ve still got nine more days of Italy / Germany / Netherlands before homecoming!

Yup, just use crushed salt in a bit of water, Mate. And lemon juice... jiff lemon in the plastic bottle is superb.

Had similar but in my arm, bitten on my wrist Wednesday evening, Thursday morning lower part of forearm had swollen , Thursday evening redline traveling up my arm to armpit, 4 visits to hospital to have antibiotics injected over 4 days an then 7 days of tablets, but all cleared up ,

If you get a line appear then definitely seek medical attention, had other bad bites before that have got red an swollen but they have cleared up fine , with over the counter antihistamines

I never used to get any bad bites - but it seem that just before I got Typ 2 Diabetes the little buggers seemed to think I’was an Ar+ mobile feeding station - Maybe co-incidence ?

It had a dressing with some 1% hydro cortisone on it but on trip back up to Germany the blister must have filled and popped Inder the Dressing. It’s still leaking a little clear gunk. There is no pain so I’m going tö slap another dry dressing on it and see the local Apoteke on Monday before I drive to the Netherlands.
