florida highways!!

 i'm from the bay (california)
i've been having a lot of fun driving around on florida's highways! besides the HORRIBLE traffic conditions [at times], i'm lovin' it. definitely different than california's beautiful scenary and hill-type highways, but florida's highways seem to be a lot of straightaways. night-time driving is the best.. cool weather, less cars, and off you go! so far... it's been a pleasant driving experience with my baby. i can't complain! (except, again, for the HORRIBLE traffic!!)

on a different note..

the other day, the city of miami experienced a cold front, reminded me of california, btw, but anywaise.. it was nearly 50 something degrees (good driving weather, imo) and when i had put the smg into auto-mode, i noticed that the car was pushing itself a bit harder than it would during, say, 80 degree weather. why is that? or was it just me?? [the most obvious answer is the cold weather, i know)

How many miles on the Tranny?

I replaced my transmission fluid/filter on my 03, Steptronic, (51K miles) and the transmission shifts 100% better than before.

It was 37' when I went in to work this morning and the transmission shifts just like when I came home tonight and it was 65'. Top down of course.....

Another explanation is that the seals inside your VANOs (variable camshaft control) unit are shot and need to be replaced. This is a very, very common problem on all BMW's from 98' to 2006. The problem degrades slowly so most drivers don't know there is a problem.

Read these web pages...

I have all the parts needed to do my VANOs. Just waiting for the time and the outside temps to get better..

Oh my! I have been spending a lot of time in the Tampa region for the last two years and I find the driving absolutely awful in Florida. Glad to see I'm not alone. The driving is reckless and It seems that using turn signals when changing lanes is optional in Florida. I was told to beware the driving in the New York-New Jersey area but I found it to be much more civil than in Florida if you except the occasional driver telling me I'm #1 with his middle finger.

I wonder how the visitors find the driving in Montreal for that matter?

Cheers.

what i don't understand is....

wtf is up with people and getting in my freakin' way?! are they jealous of my speed???? cuz.. that's what it seems like!!

it's late at nite and i'm on my way home from work.. i usually do no more than 80 mph on i95 (from hollywood/ft. lauderdale to south miami).. and usually ALL lanes are bare.. it takes like 20/25 minutes or so to get home btw.. and then some FOOL decides to meander into my lane!! no signal or anything!!

it usually happens in the day, too. i just don''t understand it.

When I lived in South Florida, I couldn't stand the way people drove. Forget I-95. Head West, pay the toll and hop on the Turnpike. Watchout for state troopers though..

That is because all of the NY/NJ drivers you heard about retired and moved to Florida. :)

No, there's one called the Florida Turnpike. You may be a little to far south for it to be of any use to you. But it's a North/South corridor.
