Flat Tyre...Typical!

Had the zed for nearly a year now. Loving it.

Got a wedding to go to tomorrow in Cornwall (I'm in Surrey)...first chance to really show off the motor to family and friends - was looking forward to it ;) However, this evening, one of my run-flats picked up a puncture....zero psi when I limped into a service station. I can't see the offending 'shiv' (screw, nail, whatever) but I'm pretty sure it's not a slow puncture as I checked the tyre pressure all round this morning. Don't think I can get replacement in time (i.e. early tomorrow am) and will have to drive the other half's old Golf now, instead.

Gutted! :headbang:
 
Thanks ML - I am considering a repair. Think I may have exceeded the 50MPH top speed limit on the punctured RF though...:( Will make some enquiries early tomorrow at the local tyre repair centre.

On the bright side, I drove it to Edinburgh and back a couple of weeks ago, had a blast! :driving:
 
Well i had a similair puncture a month or so ago and i know for sure that i did more than 50 mph,so far no problems after repair :thumbsup:
 
If you have run the tyre flat for any distance there is no way it can be repaired it will have damaged the walls as is intended by the design

Mine ran for at least 1to 2 months at half pressure :oops: but its since done about 600 miles since repair with no problems !

If tyre is actually 0 pressure then it cannot be repaired but at half pressure you were lucky :o
If OP can get air to stay in tyre for any distance he can probably get replacements at Micheldever Tyres on the A303 huge stocks
 
Thank you, wegras. Checked the tyre this am....it had lost 4psi but was still inflated. Strange. Appreciate the 'Micheldever Tyres' tip though - could come in very handy today.

I had one of my run flats repaired / vulcanised on Wednesday due to a screw right in the centre of the tyre. The tyre did not completely deflate and i did about 60mph on the way to the tyre repair centre.
The tyre is fixed and to my knowledge it has no issues at all as a result of the repair. Run flats can be repaired / vulcanised like normal tyres, however the repair procedure takes a little longer due to the run flat design.

I am no expert on this subject at all, i am just quoting the tyre guy who has repaired and supplied tyres for our business for many many years.

As a general statement as long as the RFT has not deflated to very low pressure and the issue is not near the sidewalls many Companies will repair although some chains
appear to have guidance not to repair under any circumstances
 
I took my car to Williams BMW in Liverpool after my tyre had been repaired, and the service manager told me that BMW guidelines state that a run flat tyre should not be repaired.

That is of course the sensible solution but not every one would agree ....BMW are one of the "chains" :wink:
 
I have a screw in my tyre today, close to the side wall, and both rears are down to 4mm anyway, so getting them both changed. Last year a full set cost me £1200. And just got a new front one 2 weeks ago, so have found two repaired ones on eBay with 6mm, £100 each for the rears. Normal prices for rears is £325 each....
 
Wifes e90 was in the dealers for its first service ,all 4 tyres need replaced -bmw price 600 for 17" rfts :headbang:
Think its time for a shop around !
