Flat battery

I managed to leave the car overnight with radio on and doors open and I now have a flat battery. Are the highlighted connectors the right ones to recharge. The positive one is not covered, or is that a nut to be undone at the top.

i could be wrong but are they not the jump starting points?? suppose they would work but why not just connect to the terminals on the battery

Somehow I got the impression this was the way to charge the battery. Rather than direct to the battery.

Yes, these are the right terminals to use. The +ve terminal should have a plastic cover over it - it's attached by a thin piece of plastic to ensure that you don't lose it, so it's worth checking just under the +ve terminal to see if it's there. (Mine had fallen off when I bought it, but was still hanging there).

You can use any piece of the bodywork for the -ve terminal, although the one you have marked is designed for this.

If you have an ///M, then getting at the battery terminals is a major pain - hence why BMW provided these terminals.

As Andi says - correct terminals.

You often find the +ve terminal cover by following the cable down with your hand, as it may have slid to the lowest point of the main cable on the retaining loop that Andi mentions.
