I only flash speeding motorists to politely warn them of my presence on the road in the interest of road safety :)

Highway code rule 110 Flashing headlights. "Only flash your headlights to let other road users know that you are there. Do not flash your headlights to convey any other message or intimidate other road users."
 
A few weeks ago some caring individual flashed me just as I was accelerating into a hoon on one of my favourite back roads. I obviously backed off a bit as I believed this meant "police ahead". It seems the other driver was just politely letting me know they were there.

Hoon and indeed evening ruined. Worst part is that the flasher was a fellow Bavarian.
 
They had a feature on this the other week on the Jeremy Vine show on radio 2 and the police had another patrol looking for drivers flashing there headlights to warn other drivers so they could at least get one conviction :?
 
I always warn others of speed traps. Shocking to think that someone was convicted for it :o

I've never considered it to breaking the law. Sounds like jobsworth Police and CPS behaviour to me :thumbsdown:

On a road there is a kid with sign saying "speed trap ahead"

drivers slow down, drivers pass speed trap

50 yrds past the speed trap there's a kid in a layby with a bucket and a sign saying "donations"
