I tried and ended up getting the front indicators to flash when braking !

I've not tried mine yet but have set it using NCS.

I have ncs but have never plucked up the courage to use it

From what I've seen of Carly where the options are a bit more complicated it's not clear exactly what you need to do to get a result.

NCS is easy once you get the hang of it, but there is the risk you can brick the car... NCS Dummy can help speed things up a bit but the issue is still with translations and multiple items to get an effect.

There are a couple of good guides online for NCS. Dumping the trace is a good start to see what's going on.
