Is that pic of the metro bridge just down from the Broadway?

An acquaintance had his house flooded. It was four feet deep in his living room. He is an engineer and an enthusiast for engineering solutions. He thinks his house is going to be okay in the same amount of water if it recurs. There are underfloor sumps and big pumps with independent power in case of any failures in the primary bund, waterproof render inside and out, electrics that run above the high water line. Secondary barriers in front of exterior doors. Cut off valves on his sewerage system, and yet more expensive tomfoolery built into the garden.

This was all driven by his personal offence taken at an act of God trashing his oak flooring last time round.
Mad as a duck.

My mate who lives in leicester said his focus looks like a golf ball after the hail.

My poor z in on the driveway at home... While i am away for work... Dread to think what it will look like :(

Amazing pictures, hard to take in the amount of rain it takes to do that in such a short time......

yes it is
Thought it looked like it. I suppose that any water heading down that way has got somewhere to go... the North Sea! Has it all settled back down this morning?

Some pretty shocking pics... Hope nobody here has been put out by the floods.

My son just managed to get home from Team Valley on the A1 to Denton Burn while the southbound carriageway was closed and we were in Oakham yesterday afternoon and noticed the very black clouds in the Melton Mowbrary area where they had golf ball sized hail stones. We drove a few miles south, roof down and and didn't get any rain at all yesterday.
