Flaky Front ARB

I’ve never seen serious corrosion on a front ARB before, but saw this on a M coupe on Saturday.

Is this likely to be vulnerable to breaking or need replacing any time soon?

Isn't that just the painted coating flaking away? If so, a brush attachment on a drill and some hammerite would make it look better!

Yes, but the paint wouldn’t be flaking without some rustiness underneath. I agree that a brush attachment on a drill and some hammerite would make it look better, but wouldn’t necessarily solve the problem.

Hard to tell if its just flakey paint or the corrosion is almost through the bar. If it is, then not a big job to replace it, but makes you wonder what state the rest of the underside is in! Saw an e85 recently where the underside seemed to have digestive biscuits stuck all over the floor pan.....very heavy corrosion indeed. Salted roads for you.
