FK springs - any good?

I had FKs and I didn't like them. They are cheap they do look great and if your just after a low look then :thumbsup: but if you enjoy driving your car and pushing on I would say :thumbsdown:

Hi buddy,

I've been running Eibach springs with standard shocks for about 6 months and my shocks are also starting to struggle a bit.

I am planning on replacing with bilsteins. Which did you fit? B4s or B6s?

I got the B12 kit, and swapped every component, mounts, bolts the lot. Total refresh. :thumbsup:

Thanks everyone - think I'll be giving the FKs a miss then. Seems like I'd regret it in the long run.

Probably going to go for the Eibachs and push my wheel refurb back a month or two... £££
 
I have FK's on Koni yellow adjustable shocks, and it's a huge improvement over stock... where looks, ride and performance are all concerned.

Can't comment about the longevity issues around OEM shocks and FK springs. However, I had them on my zed for 5 months, and loved them. Shocks were still ok.

Height wise - perfect drop. Looked really planted.

Handling wise - I found they were firm, but not crashy. I've lowered previous cars to extremes, but the zed wasn't extreme. Over an A/B road drive, even at pace, the FKs were ok. Around town in Edinburgh with drain covers, potholes etc, it could get a little uncomfortable. But we're talking about a sports car that's been lowered i.e. not designed for comfy city centre driving.

I suspect that there are much better springs/shock combos out there. But for the bargain price FKs are, I couldn't knock them
 
Perfectly put Adamski.

I don't find them too harsh, but then again like you most previous cars I've had were lowered stupid amounts, and you do expect a firm ride in a lowered sports car anyways, it's definatly not anything that would put me off.

Hmmm not fantastic, the kit can be bought for around £200 so they are charging around £286 for fitting which is quite a lot. Does that include a full alignment?

The good thing about the Eibach Pro Kit is that it's fine for good oem dampers, anything more than 30mm starts putting a bit to much strain on them:
 
If the £486 includes full geo alignment, I'd go for it.

My springs were fitted at B for BMW, an Indy specialist. Total cost plus wheel alignment was £300
