Today, by arrangement @hq114 came round to Midlands HQ in his lovely LCI as he had a amber handbrake light. Scanned with autophix to confirm the fault(s) and initially replaced the rear left wheel speed sensor. No change.
We then replaced the yaw sensor under the carpet under the driver seat.
Problem resolved, both of us very happy.
We also adjusted the front left bonnet catch and fitted 3 missing rubber pads to resolve the rattle he could hear.

It was an absolute pleasure to meet @hq114 and to work on his Z4 and help another member of this community.

Bonus being it was an absolutely gorgeous car.1000037700.jpg

Hi Ben, it was a pleasure to meet you earlier. That amber handbrake light has been haunting me for months; now my car is ready for its next MOT. Also I have functional hill hold once again, which is a wonderful thing. As an added bonus, my bonnet doesn't rattle over every tiny bump anymore. I pretty much drove home in a new car!

As our cars age and become ever more fragile, it's people like you with depth of knowledge (and astounding collection of spare parts) who ensure that we can keep enjoying them as intended. Can't thank you enough, look forward to catching you at a future meet :giggle:

Excellent. Well done. For future reference, a wheel speed sensor will usually put the tyre pressure light on too.
Had to eliminate to possibility of it. Only 1 of the 3 I'd have expected to see were showing. When I looked up the code, the 1st result (which seems always to be an AI description nowadays) mentioned the rear left. It was also the cheaper option to eliminate 1st and I happened to have 4 new ones. In my extremely limited experience, it's the trio of amber dash lights that usually points to the yaw sensor, not just the one.

Fair enough. However, I forgot to mention that the left rear sensor is also the one that feeds the speedo, so that's another quick check on that particular corner.
