For a couple of years my convertible roof has struggled to open and needed assistance to retract but closed fine. Thought it was roof motor issue so did the move the motor into boot and even though it looked ok I replaced the motor.
The symptoms remained and have been baffled until today. I thought it could be compartment shelf micro switch so tested that with a piece of wire but no different. Finally I swapped the hydraulic lines over to check motor was ok or weak one way. Didn't open or close it but did try to move, tried it a few times in both directions, so swapped lines back lost a small amount of fluid and tested again and the roof opens and closes!! My guess is airlock in system or valve stuck but now works. I know it's supposed to self bleed but it's sorted for now. Happy fix.
