Fix It Day Yorkshire! - Dates Confirmed

OK so i started a topic about this some time ago but nothing came of it at the time! what i'm wanting to arrange is a meet where we all get together and sort out all those little jobs that we all need doing from time to time. i'm sure there are people on the forum that are handy with a spanner or people like me who are crap lol! so the basic idea is to meet up and pool our resources to get jobs done!

things like
Wiper Motors Cleaning
Soft Top Drains
Boot Leaks

personally i run my own detailing company so could assist with scratch and mark removal! if we got enough people together with a varied variety of skills then it would be a great day finished off with a hoon??

Im thinking of the west Yorkshire area but assume we would need access to a unit or sorts with power and a water supply? if we could start getting some names down i can then move onto dates and trying to locate a unit for us to use for the day.

Ok guys, so the location is

Moorside Garage Keithley Road, Illingworth, Halifax, HX2 8AR
(Next to Moorside community Primary School.)

Time 8:30am Saturday 7th December

They have confirmed it will be £30 a head and we can have access to the garage and a ramp if needed. They have also confirmed the date of the 7th December and advised that a £15 deposit will be needed to confirm spaces.
Ideally I would love as many people to come as possible. Myself I can help with detailing and valeting, I’m sure someone will come and help with roof drains and the common wiper problems! Any issues we have can be sorted by Matt who is letting us use the space! He is currently a mechanic for a reputable dealer and uses this space for his own personal jobs. And hopefully we can have a little hoon after with a nice pint somewhere after!

Anyone wishing to come can please send me your deposit to [email protected] via PayPal. The remaining £15 will be paid on the day.

Let’s make this a great day guys!

what do you deal in lol

why not set up a detailing company

i think this is a good idea in theory but i suspect there will be 1 or 2 working hard whilst many others will be stood by watching

well hopefully that wouldn't be the case as i'm sure everyone could help in some way! even if its little jobs

We have done one of these own south. They are great and very helpful. And if you are no good with spanners get lunch bring a bottle of wine few beers to pay the guys that are.

Great idea and exactly what forums are for good one Nova

I am meeting a few members on the 10th to lower a few cars fit a quad. And a few other bits n bobs. I am lucky that I have access to a post lift and tools.

I bet there are a few people on here (like me), who have a DA polisher and could use some pointers. I'd happily pay a reasonable amount for a quick tutorial and demo of how to use the damn thing :)

I know the guys on Detailingworld have had permission to use the premises at Swissvax (currently in Knaresborough) in the past but obviously that was more of a detailing meet. Might be worth an ask though, although not sure what sort of facilities would be needed.

hmm that's interesting! maybe we could make it a detailing/Fix it day! obviously would have to look at a small charge for people that want to come! although i feel it would be worth it for those who need help in getting smaller jobs like annoying wiper and drain hole problems sorted

well I need no jobs doing and can't give much input, but if this kicks off i'd be happy to attend

Don't need anything doing but would be good to drive over.

However I would love a full detail when your free!

What jobs do you need doing Nova? I know Oxford is a bit of a drive but your welcome to come down?

I’ll be honest I need a few doing! My wipers are not sitting correctly, my roof drains need doing, I need to take my front bumper off and try fix my driver’s side head light as the wiring for the sidelight has corroded!

Well I have had the bumper off its very easy. The wipers done that too! Follow the guide on hear it makes it a doddle. Roof drains not done that but Stuart Truman showed me how on Wednesday and that looks easy enough too.

All the best with your meet
