Fitting z4m rear bumper

So i have trawled the net and found instructions on fitting the z4m front bumper ( I already have one fitted so no need), but i am just about to retrofit the rear, because i am installing the quad backbones from the z4m. Does anyone have a how to or any pointers before starting. My car is a 3.0si coupe so rear lights should be fine.

nick your exhausts are ready to go :=)

they are in great condition, i took a rag to one of them real quick and the actual unit is still shiny!!!, the tips are perfect im talking about the actual unit its self, Really cant wait to see what you do with these please make a new thread and link me when you do :-)

thanks for the prompt payment!!!

i think we should do a mini meet with your s2000 and my z4m s/c

Hey Byron,
Thanks so much mate... i'm excited now... fun little project and i have all the parts i need including the heat shields. I'm going to start photographing it all and i'll get a post together. The scrap dealers sent me the wrong water pump today to fix the z which is slowing things down! Would be great to meet up... i'm loving the sound of your M... we'll get together once i get the z sorted! I'll get some pics of the S2000 on here too.... the z is great, but nothing screams like an s2000 at 9000RPM.... now i really need to take a leaf out of your book and start thinking about supercharging it.

Bit more work for you then as the ///m rear has a pair of diffuser channels to mate to, running out to the mesh vents.

Thanks... do you think the battery box will get in the way? Is it just a case of working out how to fix it along the bottom edge?

IIRC the battery box was an obstacle to building in the venturi's. I'm sure you're competent to fab up something though to mate the leading lower edge to :)

i too am looking to fit a facelift M version rear bumper to a pre facelift z4, will be interested in any photos etc and how to comments. I know i need facelift lights but do i need m version bumper mounts etc?

I didn't get the boxes yet... Should arrive on monday i believe. Thanks for sorting packing them up for me!

I'm not too sure. The plan is to flat it and prime it myself (i like to make sure prep work with paint is done properly)... then i'm getting it painted. Once it's painted i'm going to whip off the old bumper and see whats what. I doubt it is as complex as the front (which needs new liners, vents etc)... rear bumpers are usually a simpler swap but i'll soon know. I'll keep you posted.

There's a big writeup on fitting a m bumper on the how to section

How are you fitting the dual m exhausts? Are you moving the battery box?

Thanks. I could only find the front bumper writeup. I'll have another look.
I cut and plastic welded the battery box exactly as CJ10jeeper did... using his guides and then i'm using an Odyssey pc680 battery which is tiny... the only thing is it doesn't seem to be holding much power... i think it may be a bad one. I have heard a lot of the z4m guys using the pc680's without a hitch, so i have deep charged it and will see if that helps. If not, i'll be asking for a new one, because it should be holding power for more than 24hrs! Most people say they have left them for a week with no problems.

The odyssey should easily run the Zed. My Hawker has been on for a couple of years without issue. On a few really cold mornings when not run for days or started and stopped withiut driving, hood up, etc., I've had the low battery warning, but it still spins the engine perfectly and sorts itself out after a mile or so. If you have issue you could fix a tandem battery in the lower NS inner wing. Lots of room and easy to pick up the mains and earth points.

On the bumper I expect you will have to rig up some centre support underneath at the ///m points won't be there and the bumper won't match the battery box mount point. Minor issue after all you've done so far..

Its the best method when going to a quad exhaust, ive seen cj's modifed battery box and it works a treat

unfortunatly i have an amp next to the battery and was worried about where i would fit that

Good luck with your setup
