fitting xenons

I know what you mean re E89, I think it is to do with the projection system as it will be the same bulb and same 35w going into it the E89 must focus the light much better. Some of the newer mercedes also seem a lot brighter yet they must still be using 35w HID D2S/D2R to meet regulations.

if you look at this graph http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v131/taylorcans/outputrediction.jpg it would suggest that the HID lights decrease in lumens quite a bit over time this certainly is the case in projectors and other pro AV lighting that uses HID. I have purchased 2 new D2S xenon bulbs and should be installing them this week versus the 8 year old original HID's currently in there. I reckon there should be quite an improvement as with the automotive bulbs they wear a lot quicker due to the restart feature. Normal HID lights usually require a good 10 minutes to cool off before the ballast allows the light to strike up again this of course is not so with the automotive HID so the tradeoff is bulb life. If you have a facelift and flash your lights a lot then I reckon this will be an even bigger problem..... I'll take some before and after pics

how hard is it to fit the xenons ? and whats the cost

awns on a post card thanks guys

What are you saying???

You have them or not?

HID refers to the gas inside - high intensity discharge gas When a current is passed through it it will be emit light.

IF you have HIDs you probably have xenon or krypton light.

Halogen lamps have halogen which needs less voltage to become excited and give off light.

The advantage of halogen is cheaper and long lasting whilst HID lights are more expensive and fragile and decay over time.

My cars all have xenon lights so i just installed it yesterday in my Z4. Used the slim ballast kit from HID Direct.
