Fitting of Rear Bilstein B6's to roadster

Today just got a full set of Bilstein B6's to fit to my roadster. One question to others who have fitted them - for the rears the instructions provided seem to suggest there is a sleeve (z) that goes at the top of the strut under the top mount. No such sleeve was in the kit, only the disc/washer that fits over the bottom bolt. Can anyone help, was there a sleeve in the rear strut pack provided to them or is there no sleeve to fit?

Also I presume that the original bumpstop goes back in?

There is a simple instruction sheet that came with the shocks.

One diagram shows fitment to E46/Z4 M- Coupe/roadster (M85) which has the original bumpstop, disc/washer (supplied with shock) and sleeve (z) (not supplied in kit but stated in instructions as"delivered by Bilstein").

Another diagram shows fitment to E46/Z3 M- roadster (M85)/Z4 (Z85) which shows no bumpstop and only the disc/washer for the bottom bolt that has been supplied.

Anyone who has fitted rear B6's to a E85 please advise what they did? nDid you fit bumpstop and also did you fit a sleeve at the top of the shock underneath the top shock mount?

IIRC there is only a washer on the top of the shock rod that fits underneath the rear shock mounts with the OEM shock.

Surely someone on here has fitted rear Bilstein B6's to their E85 roadster?

Can anyone please help!!!

I'm sure b6/8s have internal bump stops so I wouldn't think you'd need them.

Pretty sure thats what I reused when i fitted my KW's, every thing else i chucked in the bin.

try sending Jembo a PM as he fitted them to is roadster before he sold it, his guide is here

Thanks for the reply, have you had any problems from not fitting the bumpstops?

My confusion comes from the instructions included with the B6's as one illustration states to use the bumpstops and the included sleeve and the other shows not to use them.

The following links shows the said instructions http://www.dvsegmbh.info/PDF/einbau/42014/171/E4-WM5-Y132A00.PDF

Thanks, I have sent him a PM as suggested and I will also be using his post when I take the rear interior apart at the weekend!

Sorry, My KW's did come with bump stops already on them, just had to reuse a washer from my old units

Thanks for that. I think I will be re-using the old bumpstops and washer from what you and Jembo have both said but still unsure about the Sleeve that is mentioned in the Bilstein instructions!

Also jan_tekin what kW coil overs are they and where did you get them and what price please, also did you need spacers? Ash

Jan_tekin - what paint did you use for your hubs and calipers?

Just standard Hammerite paint, done at least 2/3 years ago.

V2s brought from Demon-tweeks for something around £1200, had to wait 6-8 weeks while they were made and shipped over from Germany.

No spacers are needed but I've fitted a 5mm to the fronts

Thanks for the reply mate are you happy with them? What else did you replace when fitting? Not rubbing on front without the spacer then? How much was fitting out of interest? Thanks Ash

Very happy :D never spent that sort of money on a part for the car but don't regret it unlike my old H&R lowering springs.

Fitted them my self, along with new top mounts front and back and front ARB powerflex bush. Also replace my control arms and drop links with the HD meyle kit of eBay.

Just need to get my RTAB bush done with the limiters I've got and my rear ARB done, then get it aligned again :D job for early next year

Your more then welcome to pop over and ill take you out for a spin :driving: also try and reset your warning light if its not been sorted

Which limiters have you gone for? I think these may eliminate some of the rear steer over lumpy roads.
