FITTING MY NEW SEATS HELP NEEDED

Chris, you are the man, So simple when explained, have just swaped all over and waiting on bypass box.Below is the reply chris gave me which was like "turning on the light"
(me with the smiley face now)You will need your black box however, as that and the wire its connected to (not the existing seat mat) will come off your old seat and go onto your new seat with the bypass box. So basically you will have three components, one will be the new bypass box, the other is the black box from under the old seat, and the third is the wire that goes from the black box to the black/yellow connector.
So remove the sliding cover from the black/yellow connector on old seat.
Remove the wire which goes to the black box from black/yellow connector.
Unplug black box from seat mat.
Then on new seat
Unplug seat mat (grey wire from photo) from black yellow connector.
Then plug in all three bits to the new seat, so bypass goes to black box, and black box to the black/yellow connector via the wire you removed
I would be really useful if someone could do a definitive write up on the electronics part of changing seats with pictures. This is an ongoing saga for an increasing number of members with many airbags lights on and air bags off.
My indy can't find out (nor can I) which colour wires from my 2007 seats (or indeed the main loop of my 2004 car) are the right ones for my occupancy bypass box to connect to.

These saga's are why I made sure my 2004 had msport seats in from new, They werent heated but they are now, and I don't have any issues with airbags deploying, or worse, not deploying when your passenger is there, (imagine that claim against you, for modifying your car to be less safe)
Hope you inform your insurers, because if the passenger airbag is deployed with no-one there, the assessor may then pass these details to the insurers and they just may not pay out after an undisclosed modification, ie: seats and/or bypass module, after all I wouldn't be happy having to pay up for a new dash because the airbag deployed when it shouldn't have..... and they just might not pay for any of it.
Does anyone know exactly if the occupancy bypass makes the passenger airbag deploy, or stop it deploying. I would think the latter as the seat belt alarm would be continuously on otherwise... :?

If both airbags go off it would be written off anyway, no way they wold pay for a new dash plus half the front end :wink:

yes and what if they say 'no way will we pay for any of it because you didn't inform us', thats my point.
I'm just sharing possible scenarios, Its everybodies' choice at the end of the day whether or not to inform the insurers or their passengers.
I waited 4 months for the one I wanted, but again waiting is not for everyone.
Yeah im impatient, and all the ones i looked at, none had proper sport seats. And mine had to be a 3ltr, silver or black, low miles and perfect condition, with other interior bits, but satnav was the only thing mine did not have, but never use it anyway. And you can retrofit everything else

And as ive said before i want my passenger airbag disabled permanently if i could, or have a switch to turn it off. Seat sensors are annoying, as how do you know for sure yours will go off in a crash :wink: These mats are notorius for faults as people well know. So you could be driving, then the airbag light come on, crash because the light has just startled you
Perfect way is to either get a switch as Recaro do, and that way you can either have it deploy or not deploy, and the choice is yours. Best way IMO, and do away with the seat mat altogether

Insurance companies never scrutinise damage to that extent. Unless there have been fatalities its not worth there time investigating, and if someones dead, well the last thing you will be worried about is paying for damage to your car.

Okay, a few options here...
If your car is pre-facelift (<2006) and the seats facelift (>2006) then you need to replace the sensor - just posted on this the other day:
Seats: occupancy sensor transplant and leather repair
Otherwise did you have the seat disconnected while the battery was connected? You need to disconnect the battery before removing the seats otherwise it will set off the airbag warning light. You will need the dealer to reset this - although check the seats type first, pre-facelift is a black cable and box, post facelift is a grey cable with no box.
