Fitting M Wheel with MFW

Hi, I have just won this M// Wheel on ebaY; from the US.

I didn`t expect the seller to accept my offer, which happend overnight lol.
In some of the pictures the wheel looks a bit shiny, which is almost the same as the standard wheel? I thought the M//Wheels are more matted, and better quality leather? One thing I dont like about the standard issue wheel is the shiny and skiny leather, I`m hopping this will be a good upgrade...

I dont have a MFW, will this be easy to retro fit?

Easy retrofit, looks like you got itat a good price! If your not happy with the quality of the leather you can get it retrimmed in whatever you like for around £130 :driving:

Looks like the correct wheel to me - the "shine" could just be from the camera flash. It is leather after all...

The upgrade is easy enough, although you may need to add the retrofit cable which goes between the steering column and the dash for the multifunction buttons. Oh and don't forget to disconnect the battery at least 10 mins before pulling off the airbag, otherwise you'll throw the airbag fault indicator on the dash and will have to take it to a dealer/suitably equipped mechanic to get it switched off.

Send it as a gift is a good idea, tell them to put the value lower also as this is what they use (I think) if they do charge import duties
 
Thanks Oli! I received an emal back from the seller. He said the pictures make it look shiny, it`s in fact matt which is great, and he will send as gift.

Now looking at retrofitting; I note- you can undo the bottom steering cowling and remove the green plug. It states- if there is a red/white, brown/black cable plugged in the top (Ieft) bank MF is functional?
 
Looks like a left hand drive wheel :driving: ,did you check it will fit a right hand drive UK car ? :rofl: :rofl: :wink:

Hi, have you been waiting long? What did you buy from him? Post from US is always a guessing and waiting game...

He seems to communicate ok...
 
Arrived today. Looks like no import duty either as the value was miss typed :roll:

I bought some leather covered sun visors. I really dislike the crappy standard ones. :oops: I was tempted by the leather door cards they have for sale too, but can't justify the price.
 
It was just under a week. It went by USPS.

Spent half the evening trying to remove the nasty airbag warnings. Half way there, just got the residue to try and remove without removing too much dye.
 
today I managed to remove the cowling at the botton of the steering wheel.

I cannot for the life of me see a green plug under there?
The only plug is a black block connector to the left.
 
The black block connector is for the indicators, etc. The green plug connects directly into the black "casing" at the base of the wheel, on the right side.
