With head units with sat nav you need to connect to rear of cd changer to get the head unit to change tracks, if you did what I did by connecting to rear of head unit, you cannot get head unit to chance tracks. Below us my mates company of which I have installed the GROM kit.

This is not correct, dension connects to head unit and you can control through head unit or mfsw

What is 'dension' ?

Hi Nigel, The Dension is an ipod controller unit that can be fitted in the back of the headnuit. It plugs in, and lets you play music using iphone or ipod.

ps, I know that much :) I just need to find the best sulutions of what to fit for my ipod. With price in mind, that plugs in a satnav equiped car?
Parrot seems real functional...

BMW (Elms) today quoted me £57 for the cable, which has BMW socket one end and a mini jack built onto a flat plate, which is neatly screwed into the glove box. £157 total including fitting as it takes 90 minutes. It then brings up a standard Aux setting on the menu. That's it, it doesn't charge the iPod and no dash controls. You hit play on your ipod before a journey, then from that point you only have volume control. But that's all I need as I set up loads of cool playlists anyway.

When I get car back Monday I'll take some pics and post.

£157 is a joke, sorry.

just buy the cable and fit it yourself - plenty of how-to's on here. 90 mins fitting time

gannet, I'm not going to risk snapping a piece of expensive trim and end up paying hundreds of pounds to have it all fixed. For me I'd rather the professionals did it. Anything more than replacing a bulb and I can't be doing with it.

Fair enough, so long as you are aware of all options

Yeah, I know the options. It's just whenever I try and do anything like this, I typically snap a bit of plastic trim, that ends up costing bloody hundreds from BMW and after doing it 2 or 3 times now I promised myself I would never do it again.

It kind of looks easy enough to pull out the head unit and plug it in, but it is threading it through into the glove and screwing the jack end into place in the glove somewhere. I am sure I'd snap or break something.
