Doesn't need to be programmed :)
Do a search and you'll find shed loads of information on the subject.

Well thats good news if it dont when i rang bmw to buy the parts not wanting the full retro kit that cost £245 but just the stalk and cable they mentioned it would need re programing and to supply and do the fitting they wanted £550
In the end i bought the stalk and cable off ebay for £96

Hmmmm, methinks someone is a tad over priced :o
Job should take you about an hour and perhaps the most difficult part of the exercise is cutting the necessary slot for the stalk in the lower cowl.

Similar price to what I have been quoted by a main dealership to supply and fit.

I decided against it.

Just input cruise control fit z4 or something similar and watch it being done. Looks quite straight forward especially if the cable doesn't need fitting. My Zed is April 2005 and I'm hoping the cable might not need fitting. Will only know when I get around to doing it. As BRC has said, no programming required.

If the Z4 is pre-facelift (round fog lights) the cabling will be there. Else it will not :)

FYI cut off date for whether cabling is there from memory is Aug 04, as I found out when retro fitting it to my old 05 plate pre facelift - loom is £10 or so quid from Sopers

was it easy to fit the cable happy with cutting hole for stalk but worried about the cabling

I chickened out & gave to a sparky... lucky decision as my wiring diagram was one of the obscure swap this n that here n there in the appendix. Took the guy 3 attempts to get it right as no obvious clue - good luck if it's one of the easy ones
