I bought a 2005 low mileage Z4 30i SE a few months ago and would like to have a phone working from the cradle, it already has a Blackberry cradle in it so I purchased the correct Blackberry model and it fits in the cradle perfectly, the phone charges and comes on etc but how do I connect it up to / pair it with the car? any help would be appreciated! :?

Stevie, Many thanks, I did do a search 1st but was swamped with info, I will take a look!

You will need the Communications handbook which should be with the car
and most importantly the 4 digit code used to pair
it will be on glossy card which also should be with the vehicle documents
If it is missing the # can be extracted from the car system by a dealer
or it is printed on the bluetooth module mounted on back firewall in boot but not easy to find

Only connects via bluetooth. Pairing with the car can be tricky - I managed it eventually, but didn't find the manual very clear. Good luck1

Most of the guides on the internet are wrong about the pairing sequence . Pay particular attention to the key position in step 1. If you don't know your passkey it is printed on a sticker on the bluetooth module itself in the boot. Again most posts on the internet are wrong in that it is not quick or easy to read the key off the module as you will need to remove the carpet and other stuff to get near it. Allow yourself at least 45mins to an hour if you are going to attempt this and be careful of breaking carpet fasteners.

For pairing the instructions in the book I have worked no probs...

1. Press the button on the phone cradle for about one second and at the same time turn the ignition key to position 1

2. Release the button

3. "BLUETOOTH PAIRING" appears in the display or on the monitor if you have satnav

4. Your mobile phone should now react and ask for the 4 digit passkey

5. Enter the passkey on your phone

6. "PAIRING SUCCEEDED" appears in the display or on the monitor

You only need to do this once then it pairs automatically thereafter.
