Fitting a new handsfree mic

Hi all,

I'm totally p1$$3d with the poor quality of the handsfree in my 3.0si Coupe. Has anyone tried swapping it for another one, so that it works as a part of the OEM system?

I really don't want to use a non OEM, if I can replace a part in the steering column pretty easily. I currently won't take any calls in my car, due to the frustration of being told its a sh1t line.

Someone must have tackled this by now.......

I use the old school method... I ignore my phone when driving and then return calls/texts when i stop, i wish everyone else would do the same but then im a grumpy fucker

I never read/reply to texts. Pet hate, and seriously dangerous. I would like to be able to make calls though...... Need the facilty, to ensure the perfect timing of my takeaways :P

I have a Parrot i9200 system in mine with the noise cancelling mic up by the mirror where it's hardly noticeable. Take calls all the time roof up or down and the sound quality is excellent even at motorway speeds.

Try replacing the mike in the top column cowling Has to be worth eliminating that as an issue and a real easy swap over.

My system works perfectly well (except for noise at speed or roof down) so not sure of the need to go aftermarket.

Have you done this swap?

Yes just extended the lead and purchased the upgraded mike and new top cowling
I also fitted the lastest generation 13 ULF module as that has better performance than early generations
