Fitting 5-series style wheels for E85? Any pictures?

Hey there!
I was looking for a way to make my Z4 more comfortable and I borrowed 18 inch wheels from my friends f30. And boy the ride quality spectacular. My Z4 on 19 inches i so crashy I actually subconsciously avoid driving it.

I'm now looking for 18 inch wheels and I wonder - normally bigger cars like 5/7 series have wheels with thick and heavy spokes to more balance the big body.

Did anyone of you put wheels like that on your E85?

Maybe that's the way making the wheels look bigger?

Well, your e85 never came with 19" wheels as an option, so I'm not surprised it's feel harsh.

Does it have sport or normal suspension? Are the tyres on both runflats or not? What size tyres are on the Z4/F30?

There are plenty of 'cheap' used/new wheels available on ebay/facebook/internet, but just ensure the offsets, dimensions, tyre sizes don't screw up your speed/handling, as the F30 tyres tend to be at least a profile higher than e85 non-M sizes. To be safe, you could simply find the correct 17//18" wheels/tyres that came with your Z4.

Wheels don't have to be heavy to be strong, it's down to the quality & method of manufacture. Some aftermarket copies of BMW wheels may be weaker even if they're 50% heavier.

But I agree that my F31 (2016 335xD Touring) feels more comfortable on its 18" winter tyres (non-runflat) than it does on the standard 19" summer runflats it came on.

Although, by pure chance these have just popped up on the forum...

Oh yes. But it mind boggling for me - I had other cars with 19 inch wheels and none was "this bad".
But sure - I had Cupra from 2015 on 235/35 r19 and now M2 on 255/35 r19 and 275/35 r19. Apparently things changed between 2003 and 2015 :)

Ah. My E85 is on coilovers with rebound adjustment.
I switched from 235/35 19 to 225/45r18 and 255/40r18

The difference was amazing.
Sure the wheels don't look as cool as big 19 inches but I'll take it.

Yeah, The profile on these winter F30 tires was significantly bigger.
I need to research what's the most optimal profile. As for the "sporty" experience I have my M2, so I can allow a bit of floatiness to my Z4.

What I only meant was the optical design of the 5-series wheels.
5 series was always a "heavy" looking body. And they had wheels to match and balance the side view.
The best example is the Styling 95 from E65 7-series. Look how it looks on E91:

And I'm wondering if anyone did something similar with plain 5-series wheels. Because these are very cheap second hand and might look "big" on E85.

You need to look for 18” ‘M6’ wheels. Ive put these on several E85’s and they look great

Ah either way I'm from Poland. I'm not going to import wheels from the UK ;)
Sorry, don't have an links to Polish wheels for sale...but there must be plenty of BMW wheels available in Poland or close enough to pick up / deliver relatively cheaply.

Well, I do know of 1 set of Polish-owned wheels, but they're on a Toyota CHR owned by my niece's Polish husband, and they're in Liverpool ;)
