Fitted my CDV today, Wow what a difference,

That will be me. You certainly don't want to pay for a "modded" valve that quite simply has had the innards punched out with a 3mm allen key...... Just remove the damn thing. The CDV is undone with a 11mm & 15 mm spanner. Take it off, re-connect the flexible hose using the 11mm spanner & re-bleed the clutch. Job done.

Unfortunately, to get at the valve on the clutch slave cylinder you need to put the car onto ramps & drop the aluminium undertray - all of 8 bolts.

Thats right... just remove the damn thing. No need to waste money on a "moded" cdv at all. My bmw technician did it for me so i doubt there will be warranty issues.

And yes. It is worth it.

I'm not convinced on this I must admit.. Z4M does have tendency to "rabbit hop" if you're not perfectly timed with the clutch, but I've found getting better with this is just one of the added charms of ownership 8)

i never have a problem either but that's probably coz ive done about 29k in mine and I agree you get very used to it..

not to say if I tried it I wouldn't prefer it if done.

Same...25k on mine and pretty used to it, but you do notice it when you drive something else.

Anyone in the UK able to do the CDV for me?....not touching it myself...

I suppose it depends whether you mean fit one, modify one or supply & fit one?

I gave my spare one to my specialist and he's reported that the insert came out without trouble and he's ready to fit it to my car. I'm in no hurry and it seems a waste of a 500 mile round-trip just to get that fitted.

I'm sure he'd be willing to do yours for the cost of fitting plus a bit of beer money - unfortunately he's a bit stacked up with work so he's probably not a quick solution if that's what you're after.

It seems still to me that those that have doubts about the mod are those who haven't done it. I don't think i've heard of anyone who has done it say that it was anything but an improvement.

Mines getting done ASAP, its a pain the a*se it takes away any sort of clutch feeling. :driving:

I used Racing Blue fluid which was recommended on this site ages ago. It's easy to get a hold of. Dunno how you re-bleed, i didn't do the install!

Bleeding the clutch is a 5 minute job!!! You need two people - one to sit in the car & one underneath. Give your assistant a bottle of DOT4 Brake/Clutch Fluid & sit him in the drivers seat. Go under the car & attach (push on) a 24" length of clear plastic "brewers" pipe to the bleed nipple on the Clutch Slave Cylinder. Half fill a jam jar with the DOT4 clutch fluid & stick the end of said 24" pipe into it. Undo the bleed nipple by about 2 turns & shout to your assistant to depress the clutch SLOWLY(!!). When he has pushed the clutch to the floor, tighten the bleed nipple & tell him to release the clutch, get out of the car & top-up the clutch fluid in the master cylinder.

Repeat that process until you see no more air bubbles coming out of the pipe from the slave cylinder. Job done :D .

It's a bit worrying to me that so many of you are happy to pay Thousands of pounds/dollars on ridiculous brake/suspension mods yet have no idea of the basics of car mechanics :headbang: . Must be the younger generation spoilt by mom & dad? :fuelfire:

I nearly posted the exact same thing, then noticed you'd saved me the hassle :)
