fitted hood side covers

just received and fitted the hood side covers, look great and make the look with the hood down much better but IMO these should come with the car as standard

I don't think they are very useful unless you always keep the roof open even not driving. They look nice though (£60 a pair).

i think they will be useful on a long trip witht hehood down as you do get a bit of wind noise and turbulence from the open wells, bmw catalogue lists them at £90

yeah but you have to pull them manually, can't just fold the roof and let them pop off or whatever.

I know it's just so time consuming to take 30 seconds to remove them......

aaarrggh now I'm just worn out - the strain of reaching over to press that 'hood up' button is all too much

The trick was whilst driving, close the roof about 3 cm until they both pop out and you can remove them "on the go".

Only tried that once as I never used the covers and gave them away in the end.

Tried that with mine (not intended) and it just busts up the locking mechamism. So having got new bits from BMW next time I was more careful and when it chucked it down in a shower I spent that extra 30 seconds stopping getting out removing them, getting back to my now damp seat and putting the roof up.

Never fitted them again. Kinda defeated all the one touch module, remote open and close, close in 10 seconds, etc.
