Love the new side repeaters but not sure on the third brake light the red one was all glass no rubber around the outside.

Thinking it looks a bit bling may go back to red.

New Side Repeater looks great

I think the clear brake light looks good. You might want to get the clear indicator back lights as well:

Nice...

Rear must just be a different design. There is no rubber gasket around the edge of mine

Must be noticed on here the newer cars all have the rubber around the edge on the red and clear lights.

Decided to pop the red back on as it sits better the clear light did not sit as flush even though it is an OE part from BMW will see if my mate that works there can get my money back if not will sell on.

Interesting - I was not aware they changed anything on the centre light design

Looks like this on mine - no black gasket:

Echo the comment on the white centre rear lights. I much prefer them

That looks a lot better.

The gasket on the later models might have something to do with the cracked lens problem.

That would make enormous sense as it would absorb flexing under over zelaous boot closing, that could likely fracture the rigid lens

Can I ask where did got side repeaters from? Did you buy them as a set with the 3rd brake light?

I want a set of the clear repeaters but like you i'm not too keen on the brake light.

Cheers

Si

I agree, the white third break light looks better with the white break lights like on cj10jeeper's car.

Simon i got them from BMW as my friend is a mechanic there they came with no roundels but i removed the roundels from the orange repeaters and then stuck them on the clear ones and popped on to car just need to source some chrome bulbs as not that keen on the orange ones the brake light went back.

Gaza,

Do you mind me asking how much you paid for the repeaters?

When you said you got them from a mate who works there, does that imply that it was a favour and I couldn't just walk in to a BMW garage and get some?

Thanks

Si

Just means i got them a little cheaper but you can buy them they are not loads of money will speak to my friend this week some time and let you know the full price + get you the part number for the clear version it comes with bulb already in and if you do not fancy removing the old badge you can by them new as well.

Have just popped the repeater off the car and the numbers on the back are 224320 then underneath that number 7165734.9 the number on the box and receipt is 63137165734 could try ringing your local stealers with those numbers see how you get on.

Hope this helps

Gaza,

I rang my local stealer today about the side repeaters. They quoted me £10 per side for the clear glass and then said the BMW badges were £20 per side. I took my standard ones off and I couln't see a way of getting the badges off short of just prising them off. Do you know how they are attached to the rest of the unit?

Thanks

Simon

I've heard of people using dental floss to cut the adhesive off. Failing that a thin wire would do the job pretty quickly.

A few 3M pads and they should be back on again

£20 per badge :o deffo re use the old ones you just need to prise them carefully heat with a hair dryer to soften glue if you need to i used a flat knife they are stuck on with the same double sided tape as the badges.

This is the unit you should receive from BMW but with clear glass as you can see two pins that you line up your badge to

Used this to remove them
