First Z4 - 2007 3.0si - worth it?

I’d love a quick opinion on the condition and price of this Z4. I’ve got a pre purchase inspection scheduled but what’s the general opinion of a higher mileage Z4?

Steering wheel is awful, it has a horrible cover badly fitted over. That needs to be sorted ASAP.

There is a cover/cap missing is on the passenger side centre tunnel just by corner edge of seat. Check with your local BMW dealer to see if a new one is available to order.

Thats all I spotted for now :thumbsup:

As I'm in the UK I can't really comment on the price, although I know used car prices seem to be higher most places than here!

But I wouldn't be too worried about that mileage if the car has been properly maintained. My 2nd 3.0Si was only on 91K miles when I sold it but was still running really well. I've had the same N52 engine in a couple of 3 Series daily drivers, a 325i I sold on 139K and my current 330i that is on 120K and both engines performed like they had done half the mileage.

If you haven't read about it these engines have an electric water pump that will die at some point, although how long it lasts seems a bit random. The problem is you usually get no warning, the engine just overheats in less than a mile. And new pumps made by the OE supplier, Pierburg, cost about £300 here - or £500+ from BMW. :o Some people tend to fit a new pump as a preventative measure.

Panel gap on the bonnet is also wrong. Too tight drivers side and a small child could fall in the passenger side.

A side from that it does look a very clean car on the outside. Roof looks very fresh.
 
Thanks for the input! I’ll check out the panel gaps and see about that steering wheel.

The top is new, thankfully.
 
The part number for the centre console cap is: 51167055754

There are 4 in total so make sure they are all there. Two behind the seat and then two next to the front of the seat.
 
Equivalent price in UK is about £8500, at 127k miles that is a high price, even at half the miles it is still high. Currently you could buy a 60-70k mile car for £6k or less manual or automatic, higher milage cars are often not expensive at all depending on condition.
 
The USA data checks are very good. Colour seems alright, silver is very difficult to match. Cannot see the driver's side seat on the left to see if there is any wear. https://www.vehiclehistory.com/vin-report/4USBU53527LW93092
 
Panel gaps on the front drivers side.

Has it been in a crash or had the front end off for a respray?
