First year of ownership... Done!

Ok so I've had my coupe for just over 12 months now, and I've covered just over 20,000 miles. It's been a great car to devour up the miles and I can't think of many places I would rather have been to have done them. There's a couple of runs I've been on and I have to admit that I found it to be a little bit remote in comparison to what I was used to.

I've had a great mix of spirited driving and motorway cruises and have managed to average 32mpg which I honestly have to say I am astonished with. My insurance premium this year came down to less than £300 and aside from a slightly dodgy MOT it's been totally reliable.

One thing that has surprised and disappointed me though is that I've been snubbed by every single Z4 I've ever seen and raised a courteous wave to.

Having come from a community that was the complete opposite, even in other countries I find it a little bit sad that there are so many Z4 owners who simply aren't enthusiasts.

I've also managed to cover all those miles from the north coast of Scotland right down to sunny Portsmouth in the south and never had a single spot on here. I'm starting to think I have the only invisible Z4 in existence.

In summary I wasn't sure if I'd made the right choice at the beginning of the year but over the 12 months I really have started to fall for my little coupe. Looking forward to next year where I'm hoping to meet up with a few more of the guys and gals from here at some of the bigger meets.

The waving thing is tricky, I would if I knew I was likely to get a response but like you when ever I did wave nothing was acknowledged.

Did feel guilty recently though when somebody waved first but I hadn't noticed so no time to respond.

What did you have before? An Elise?

I had a Lego Elise (VX220) had it for nearly 7 years. Unquestionably more fun on a blast but the other 18,000 miles would have been much worse!

I still wave to every single one I see in the hope I'll eventually get a response.

One thing that really makes me laugh is my gifriend still waves at VX's and Elise's from the passenger seat of the Z4  She doesn't get a response either.

I wave or pop headlights at every Z4 I see.

Never a response...

...<forever alone>... :tumbleweed:

Back on the Oban run I remember passing you on the way home as you tried to catch up. I would have waved but you went past too fast :)
