When I bought my e85 2.5 it was the first ‘selfish’ significant purchase I’ve made in years.
As a 44yo Dad my money has been needed elsewhere for many years now. Being a car fan I had to watch from the sidelines and live vicariously through YouTubers.
The Zed has given me everything I needed. A quick 30 minute b road blast really does wonders after a stressful day. But it’s also given me so much more.
What I didn’t account for is the quality moments it’s given me with both of my teenagers and my wife 1 on 1. My wife and I have enjoyed a top down drive a couple of times to the woods to walk the dog. Such a simple thing but having the roof down makes it such an occasion.
My 16yo son and I have been tinkering and forming plans for some mods. I love this as I’ve always wanted to work on cars but I’m not confident at all. With it being a 3rd car I’m not too stressed if it’s off the road a bit if/when I make a mistake!
Maybe my favourite part is my 13yo daughter and I have had quality time the last 2 Sundays. We’ve gone out at 7am while the house is asleep and gone to feed the ducks followed by a coffee.
I really didn’t foresee how this selfish purchase could lead to see many bonding moments with the people I love most. Especially with the children getting older, it’s so lovely to spend proper time with them.
Anyway, I’m rambling! If you’ve got this far and haven’t yet bought a Zed then take this as a sign, rustle up a few grand and go a treat yourself!
Thanks to everyone for such a warm welcome.
Nick
