First time post, need some advice

Hi, yesterday I bought a 03 Z4 2.5i with 61k on it. Picked it up for a steal. Is there anything major I should do at 60k? It didn't come with any maintenance records so a bit concerned, but the body of the car is very clean and looks well taken care of, of course that doesn't mean anything engine wise....
I appreciate any advice. I am planning on changing out the plugs, but that's about it for now. Also, what type of plug does this use from factory? copper, platinum, double platinum, iridium? is there any one plug that has a performance boost over another? Thanks

Hi jyhuh and welcome. Exactly the same as mine...you won't be disappointed with it I'm sure. If you only do one mod do the sound generator as it is guaranteed to put a huge smile on your face!

sound generator? first time I heard of that. maybe it already has it? bc the exhaust on it sounds awesome. low rumble, not obnoxious but you can def hear it

Yeah there are a few threads on here about it. Mine was fitted by the previous owner. I couldn't imagine the car without it. Sorry cant help with your other queries

There's no discernible 'performance boost' difference, just a lifetime difference, with iridium spark plugs lasting much longer. For the 3.0si a set of iridium NGKs 1208 ILZFR6D11 should be fine. I've looked at the catalogue, and as far as I can see, for the 2.5i iridium or platinium was a recommended option. Perhaps one of the owners will help.

Hi and welcome. The sound generator only comes on the 3.0, it would have to be retro-fitted to your 2.5, lots of topics already on here about it...

Oh and... :worthless: :)

Hi and welcome to the Forum. Whatever the previous owner has said I have always done/had done a full service just after purchase. This way I know that all is well and the car has a good set of premium fluids in the engine etc. Yes it may cost a bit but for me it protects my investment in the car and certainly gives me peace of mind. Enjoy your new Zed

Thanks for all the feedback and the welcomes. Excited about the car, changed out the spark plugs last night, gotta love out in line v6 engines, removing the intake manifold not necessary :) took 30 min tops

I would change:
Engine oil
Brake fluid
Diff oil
Gearbox oil
Coolant
Oil filter
Air filter
Cabin filter
A.c. belt
Aux belt + tensioner

And clean your drain holes for the rain water

Also it's a straight 6 not a v6
