A couple of images of my first attempt at machine polishing. Should have done some close ups but you get the idea.
Probably not wet enough look for me but ok. Also some straight line scratches in the lacquer I couldn't remove.

A bit of rain next day. Not the best quality images am afraid

Nice job. Nothing better than a clean and shiny black roadster!

What machine and polish did you use?

Looks great,

I have a black zed and as much as it is a pain to keep it clean when it is clean, polished and waxed etc there is no better colour :)

Looks great, mine was much easier being silver!

Daunting the first time eh?!

Are the bricks necessary?

Good effort on the work marypoppins. The first time is a bit daunting but you soon get into it. I've always like MV2 wheels and yours look incredible. You were probably after some comments on the paint not the wheels but there you go!

That's courageous 'mary poppins' - yours is a lovely black Zed and I don't know how you can make it shinier!

It looks a terrific finish and I must have words about the process and machine you used.

Looking forward to catching up at the National

:driving:

Machine and cutting compound info please. I've got a black coupe and have swirls from previous owner taking it to the car wash. Really want to machine polish but don't know where to start. Did you do a paint depth reading?

No but it's kept under cover for long period therefore handbrake off and in gear.

Cheers Stevo the wheels are totally unmarked and original and I intend to keep them that way

Absolutely but got a bit of a routine goin and slowly gained more confidence. Still a couple of straight line marks but didn't want to overdo it on my first attempt .

No i did not take a reading to be fair the car is low mileage and has always been garaged up until i purchased it three years ago.
I used megs correction compound and ultimate compound for the deeper scratches. Autoglymn super resin polish followed by blackhole and finished with Dodo Juice blue velvet.
Used a Meguires DA polisher. Got some advice about the paintwork from a detailer before i started.

I machine polished mine - my arse was

However I don't think the Menz 4500 and medium pad really was that effective.

I think next time I will use Menz 2500 more cutting polish.
