The DCT box is an absolute peach, in sport the gear changes are instant

I am sure the speed of the gear change is instant in the DCT but that isn't what I was referring too. I don't how the DCT equipped cars behave but in my 30i with the 6 speed normal auto box when you stick it in sport mode the car hold the revs until quite high up the rev range before changing up to the next gear e.g. which is uncomfortably long in some driving conditions. I am sure even with the DCT in normal mode you will have throttle lag which is nothing to do with the speed of gear change which is from all reports I have heard brilliant on the DCTs. Sprintbooster or Racechip XLR will help with the lag on the throttle in any driving mode.

Those pedal booster things will do nothing to change throttle response. There's no inherent delay in the electronics from the throttle pedal to the DME, the delay is purposely implemented inside the DME.

All a pedal booster does is make the car think you want more acceleration that what you're asking for. You can get exactly the same effect from pushing the pedal further.

You can reduce the delay between pedal movement and the resultant throttle plate movement with a DME remap. In all electronic throttle implementations there will be a filter applied to the pedal input to reduce jitter and make the car less jumpy. The amount of damping applied the signal from the throttle pedal can be reduced all the way to 0 but there's downsides.

You are probably right but the box does what is says it will do and is very effective. Makes the car much nicer to drive which is the main thing. Hence why these boxes on the whole get positive reviews from those that have had it fitted. Although remapping the DME sounds interesting, I assume this is separate to remapping the ECU?

Same thing. DME is "Digital Motor Electronics", ECU has turned to a more general phrase that covers all kinds of control units within the car.

With the N54 you can change both the mapping of the pedal position to "torque request" and the filtering delay between the torque request and the movement of the throttle pedal. I know the N53 behaves exactly the same as they share the same software but I've never seen the software for the N52.
Ideally you want a nice linear relationship where pushing the accelerator pedal down by 20% gives you 20% of available torque. That sprint booster thing is going to be doing exactly the opposite and just give you 40% torque at 20% pedal, tricking you into thinking the car is responding faster.

OP. “PRESS THE SPORT BUTTON”
If you just have it in drive you will find it feels quite lazy, put it in sport or sport+ and everything tightens up, gear changes are quicker and there’s more throttle response, also knock the gear leaver over and use the paddle shift, it’s like driving a totally different car

Ahhhh I have fond memories of the first time I put it in Sport+ mode and the DCT into sport, back when I was young and innocent. Don't let comfort mode fool you, there is an animal under that bonnet. It wants nothing more than to be unshackled so it can guzzle fuel, chomp tarmac, and give you a good kick in the rear every time it upshifts.
Comfort Mode = Dr Jekyll
Sport+ and DCT Sport = Mr Hyde

This is what makes me fall in love with cars  :driving:

I too drive my 35i in sports mode mostly, sometimes sports plus, I just love the feeling.... I don’t abuse the car or the speed limits , im not a crazy driver, for me it just feels so much nicer in sport , and puts it that much closer to the raw drive of my 3.0 merlot e85 that , in hindsight, I should have kept also

Must admit, I don't understand any of this technical stuff. I drive mine mainly with the Sport button on (especially if the wife is not in the car) as I think it feels more responsive steering, and use the paddles when I want some more fun. My only criticism is it tends to hold onto 1st when pulling away in sport mode too long, so just blip the + paddle and take it into 2nd as soon as possible for a much better get away.
