First problem in 2 years

All sorted. I took it for a run yesterday following the all clear and the car turned into a complete mess if juddering, vibration and performance loss (as well as engine light).

I phoned this the dealer this morning, had a bit if a rant and was told to take it back so the could check again (free of charge).

Surprise surprise they found coils 3 & 4 had failed. They said I had a mix of coil makes and recommended I change the lot to avoid chasing my tail with more failures due to additional strain on the remaining 4 due to the breakdown of 2. My warranty picked up the 2 and all labour so a fair result.

I still can't see how anyone could have test driven that car and concluded it ran fine. Runs like a dream now though.

Leaves me enough money to continue my cunning audio mod (one that has never been seen before!!!)

Following on .......

I took the car out for a drive last night to see if the Z had cured itself. A quick blip of the go pedal and all hell broke loose. Engine light, drop in performance, juddering, shaking (a bit like me on a Saturday morning following a late one).

I crawled home. The engine sounded very rough even on idle.

So, back onto the phone to the dealers. One rant later I was told to take the car back and they would look again free of charge.

It turned out to be (as expected) not one but 2 coil packs (cylinder #'s 3&4). It was recommended that I change the lot (aparently I had a mix of Bosch and the other one) as it is common to get into a "chase the tail" situation of replacing others once a couple have failed (?).

My 3rd party warranty picked up all the labour and cost of 2 coils so not a bad result. A tremendous difference too (I assume as with most things you get gradual breakdown/loss of performance?).

So my Z is now whole again beaming at me through the window tempting me to take her out and open her up on some winding stretch of tarmac :-)

Further, my low outlay means that I can continue to persue my pending cunning audio mod.......
