First oil service

So, where have people taken theirs for the first oil service? Was the place you took it to any good? What price did you pay?

I've got mine coming up in the next week or so, and my local BMW garage quote fixed-price servicing, with oil service costing £150 and brake fluid costing £60 - So a total of £210.

I'm just wondering if I can better that elsewhere - although I doubt there'll be much in it, I'm willing to travel for somewhere good.

Hi IK,
Had the first oil service & brake fluid change last friday £218 all in. That was -£20 for booking online and they priced matched another dealer, was quoted £250 IIRC to start with.
I did phone around a few dealers first but give or take £10/£15 not much in it, and i dont see the point in travelling too far if you have a good dealer on your door step.

I just had my first oil service and brake fluid change yesterday and paid a hefty £199 + £64 at Dick Lovett Bristol but I did ring some others and was quoted even more than that, so at the time I thought it was a good deal!

£210 is a good price from a main dealer I would say, cost me £289 and that was price matched, my dealer wanted £345 first but next two nearest were £289, that's the South East for you. :x

How much is just the brake fluid change on it's own?

BMW Wakefield quoted me £185 ish for an oil service alone, so not brilliant vs what others seem to be getting. That air-vent air-filter seems to be about £35 quid worth though, so all said and done it's not that bad if you skip that for every other service :)

Cheers

Dave

I got my oil service and break fluid change all in for £185 at the BMW Country Garage in Ballymena here in NI. Happy days seeing those prices, but currently have 2 BMW's that I have bought from them in the last couple of years and they always get my business so probably give me a pretty good deal.

Interesting that yours was Dick Lovett Swindon IK. I then went and had a look at Dick Lovett's Bristol website and there they quote all E85 models as £149 - so quite how they can justify an extra £50 for an E86 with exactly the same engine is beyond me!

So I shall be ringing them this morning...

Result. Just called Dick Lovett Bristol and they refunded me £50 off the oil service after I quoted the website price so that's good! Thanks IK - I may not have checked that if it wasn't for you!

So £150 + £65 = £215 total (inc VAT).

Ah crap, I was basing it on the E85 pricing, since it's the same car. I'm fully expecting that price, or I'll go elsewhere.

Read my last post above IK...

There's no way they can justify the Coupe being any more than the Roadster for an oil service anyway.

Haha, brilliant! Do I get half of the difference? (Since I have £1600 to pay out this month!)

Glad to hear the price as mine will be due around October. Thanks for the information. This is the second car I have bought from them and I find them a lot more friendly than JKC who are a lot closer to me.
